I could be wrong. Though I could have sworn I read people calling titles “a-sides” in some of the many beatles biography books I used to read… (don’t ask. I was mega obsessed and literally watched and read so many things about them…).

You are correct, but there is debate on weather records actually stole it from cassetts. Most older records from before the 70's say side one and side two.
