Thats smth to keep in mind because people act like debuting young idols is smth brand new in kpop.

SNSD Aug 5 2007 6 are born in 1989 but only Taeyeon Jessica Sunny and Tiffany were 18 on that day.(Fanny 's b day is the First of aug.) the rest are 90 or 91.

Izone was 50/50
IOI only Nayoung, Chungha, Sejeong, Chaeyeon were 18

Like how New Jeans' Haerin in 18 now but she or anyone born 2006 wont be an adult in Korea until January 2025. And i think it makes sense bc they areworking in Korea afterall, and they havent graduated high school yet, cant drink, drive,etc yet.
I remember how Choi Yoojung was like a month short of becoming an adult (actually 18 but not adult in Korea) and k-netz were mad at her for underage drinking.
How media seems to encourage underage drinking and you cant blame young ppl for falling for that is another story tho.

A Korean born in 1989 would have become an adult in 2007. Koreans became adults when they reached 19 in Korean age, which would be in the beginning of 2007 for someone born in 1989. Drinking age isn’t always the same as when one becomes an adult too. In many countries drinking age is before or after the year they become an adult. It seems like in Korea the drinking age is 19 years old international age.

Was variety shows asking girls who just turned drinking eligible .. like some times days after the event. what's your drinking limit?

Kids are dumb enough about drinking. You do not need to plant the idea that the only reason to drink is until ya pass out or are so wasted to be useless.

Like none of my adult friends drink/drank like that much past university.

i was like dang they are a nation of alcoholic's.
