Who gets the first plate? (1 Viewer)

I never understood why this was an argument.

Basically the debate is who should the spouse (who cooked) give the first plate to: their child or their spouse?

I just say whoever is at the table first or closest to them. We all start eating at the same time anyways so it doesn’t really matter

I believe children. I hate the argument that the 'man' of the house should eat first, especially since to me its implying that men are above in every sense. You should put your children first.

edit: Or the person cooking could just let everyone take their plate themselves.

pretty sure if you give a plate to a child first isn't devaluing anything, its a child... people truly are wildin these days

We just all get our own plate since we're old enough for that

In my experience, growing up, my mom would make the toddlers' plates, then tell us -- the kids and teens -- to get our own plate. She'd usually make my father's plate before she tells the children to get their own, or Dad would wait until all the kids got their food then he'd get up and make his own plate.

But in my opinion, if you're grown and able-bodied, you can get your own plate. If someone offers to get your plate, that's different.
