Why do Americans cut their bread crusts? (2 Viewers)

I agree some soups are orange. Just like some Americans buy soft bread. It happens but I can’t imagine that it’s really that crazy big here compared to other places. If you want to talk breads as a whole really plenty of European places have super soft bread and are sometimes famous for such breads.

True, we do love our soft breads but they last fairly short time. :(

It probably is to other countries or if you’re not used to eating American bread, but for me, since I’m so used to it, it doesn’t taste sweet at all. Not even a little.

John Harris did what John Harris does best, pick and choose his view point and show only what backs him up. Most of the US doesn't cut the crust off. It's honestly the only part of store bought bread with flavor. Spending just pennies more also will get you better quality bread. The US has all the same breads that the rest of the world has. Maybe we don't have the "corner bread store" but we still have bread stores and they aren't as expensive has he makes out. I used to like his stuff but after doing my own nerdy research I find a lot of what he says is very slanted. Like everything else, bread can go from very sour to very sweet in the US. It depends what your looking for and where you go. My family is very much on the sourdough side of bread loving. If you go to the store and pick up good old white American wonder bread then that's what you get and thats what you'll know. I personally love potato bread as well as baguette's. Enjoy John Harris's video's for their entertainment value not for their "accurate" information.

And to be fair the crust cutting wasn't from Harris but from myself and my own experience seeing all the influencers and recipe videos cutting it.
I do love potato bread too, but not gonna lie i never tried sourdough. Probably cause noone really tried the receipe in our bakeries or i just never knew the difference.
I don't really care how many corner shops u guys have btw, i just wondered about "Wonder" bread

And to be fair the crust cutting wasn't from Harris but from myself and my own experience seeing all the influencers and recipe videos cutting it.
I do love potato bread too, but not gonna lie i never tried sourdough. Probably cause noone really tried the receipe in our bakeries or i just never knew the difference.

Then i haven't probably. Look i'm learning something new xD.
I looked it up by images and it has more air bubbles than our loafs. Ours being more dense. We have wheat, potato, corn, whole grain, dark, semi dark, etc. breads, but i just haven't seen soirdough advertized , not even in supermarkets.

I .... Have to confess. I know what sourdough bread is now, cause i translated it into google. XD we do have it here, so ... I just didnt know the hungarian name for it..... Im such a dumbass ...anyway. xD

We're BFF's! We slap each other's asses on the basketball court. No I just hate when I used to find peoples video's informative but then I ruin it by actually looking at the information. But in his defense. He comes from an LDS family and LDS families are notorious for buying the cheapest most basic of everything. So that would explain his views on American bread. He probably grew up on the cheapest most basic bread. He was simply shocked when he expanded his view of the world.

To be fair I don’t know sourdough in Russian and I’m from a Russian family that has someone who bakes sourdough regularly. I feel like that’s a major gap in my knowledge. Going to look it up now.

Sourdough is more about what you do with it. Using sourdough instead of hamburger buns... Sourdough grilled cheese Put your soup or chili in a bread bowl of sourdough!
