Why do Americans cut their bread crusts? (2 Viewers)

it’s overrated Maybe I’m just not adventurous enough with it (I’ve mostly only used it for basic sandwiches of varying kinds) butI just think there are Better breads out there. There are definitely much worse though I’ll give it that.

I watched this video on youtube and found out your bread is more white, spongier, can stay on the shelves for a week and also has the perfect shape for toast. I always wondered why you cut your crust, when it's nowhere near as hard as european crusts...
Why? Aesthetics? Unflavorful crust? Weak gums? Brighten me up!

i have never seen anyone do this nor have anyone i've known done this as well

Yeah, that's what i meant. Usually bread is made in bakeries. They can be on the shelves for like 2 days maybe and after that they get harder, not as soft, so i've never seen any bread that lasted more than that. And shops would usually give 3 day old bread for a cheaper price.
