That's literally every big 3 group. Wonder Girls, Big Bang, and TVXQ/HOT basically created these new groups with their leftovers

we wont see the try in new groups until 2021-2022 when there will be a big drop in kpop fandoms
as we are all getting older so wont care as much for new groups as we do right now
and the wave in america will be ending so less new fans will be joining
so the real try to be the next big wave will begin

I would say SM stopped going for innovation when they created FX or EXO. No hate to Red Velvet or NCT but theres nothing innovative about them

Sure but I'll say the most innovative thing to come out of KPOP the last 5 years in the PD101s lol.

I listen to a lot more 3rd gen groups than I did 2nd gen but I just don't feel as attached to any of them

I have a deeper connection with third generation idols but except for some groups , I also prefer the second generation music.

They seem the same to me, 2nd/3rd gen were/are following their times trend, only few were/are experimental.
Even the survivors of 2nd gen (as group or as solo) are following the current trends and blending with 3rd gen.

I'm glad EXO released Ko Ko Bop and TEMPO. It got a lot of negative reactions for being weird and not fitting the trend but it was interesting and refreshing.
