why do people hate 5th gen groups so much? (2 Viewers)

might just be me but i keep seeing a lot of hate (some of it r jokes) towards 5th gen groups? im not saying like fan wars, i mean people who shit on 5th gen because "they're all just visuals" or "they're untalented" even though there aren't many 5th gen groups just now or they debuted recently

I've made this comment before (mostly on the other side) - we as kpop fans don't dictate generations that's generally left up to the Korean Media

secondly - the silent majority is often drowned out by the vocal minority
there's bad apples in every fandom, activity, hobby etc etc

do we define an entire Russia by the actions of one Vladimir Putin?
do we define all soccer fans by the actions of a few football hooligans?

Tat's my quandary too-who/which grp even is 5th gen? I think now is the in-between stage between 4th n 5th gen(just my take/opinion rn) maybe gen 4.5 like in 2010/2011 gen 3.5 or sthg.

I don't think of Baemon, illit, kiof, zb1, loossemble, artms, riize as 5th gen purely since I looked into the history of kpop when I first stanned SNSD in 2018-beginning in late 90s ~ 1st gen ; 2000s till whenever ~ 2nd gen; 2014 or so 3rd gen; 2018 ~ 4th gen. 5th gen shd be 2024 but YGE n JYP even HYBE maybe mixed us up by debuting Baemon, ILLIT, NMIXX, niziU up till early 2024 so I think 5th gen is still forthcoming just by similarity/unclear debuting strategies by HYBE/JYP/YGE. Only SM hvnt muddied much by not debuting multiple grps in succession (excluding riize/nct wish).

As for the reception to baemon, kiof, zb1, loossemble, artms & riize from 4th gen stans-i think its just standard oldies not in tune with changes/time passing (even tho newjeans/le sserafim/nmixx/stayC/whoever these ppl think 4th gen don't suck compared to baemon, kiof, zb1, loossemble, artms & riize ) seems to me like get off my lawn/rock music sucks/new music sucks vibe maybe. I'm sure teens who r getting into kpop as they turn 13/14/15 or hvnt preconceived bias will choose their favorites among baemon, kiof, zb1, loossemble, artms & riize n whoever debuts in 2024/2025/5th gen proper. Just my 0.02$ opinion only so take it with a handful of salt/not so srsly.

but ultimately if it's kpop related the source of such things has to come from something in SK...and that's why we as fans don't (or shouldn't) dictate such terminology

there are a lot of people that didn't like batter up for example - and that's ok that's their choice

what do I mean by that? well a good fan that enjoys their favs in peace and quiet - they buy a few albums, stream their songs, watch their content, go to their concerts (if it's close and they can afford it) - they don't need to go online to trash other groups or certain members of groups etc etc
it's always bad apples that cause a ruckus that need to start shit by voicing their hatred and whatnot - whether that's cos they truly dislike the other group or they want to elevate their favs or to troll etc etc

secondly negativity > positivity
you go online and say how much you like blackpink and you'll barely get any traction...go online and start spousing something like BP is so much better than twice and through in some expletives and whatnot and soon you'll have onces and blinks at each other's throats...

korean companys and media articles are already considering groups 5th gen. the ones mostly debating about it are ifans.

also i wanna know what makes 4th gen so long compared to 3rd gen?! is it because the big hitters of 4th gen were the ones who started it and nobody has been able to match them since ?!?!

3rd - > 2012 - 2017
4th - > 2018 - the end of time apparently

i remember the 4th gen debate back then when it first started too and yet years later we all now collectively agree that's when it started, i think people just dont like change even when it's very apparent that its happening. i also heavily think quarantine's time screw effect had a play in how we view 4th gen timewise. 2018-2019 didnt exist and 2020-23 was one long year.

it was just a marketing ploy for zb1, that was when the term started being used during boys planet by mnet themselves to separate zb1 from any current young bgs

yeah personally 4th gen is feeling long af. to me, groups who debuted from late 2023 onwards are 5th gen, i dont think i can group babymonster and itzy in the same gen, like it's been too long
