Iceland has a lot of freedom. Iceland can tell literally any country in the world to fuck themselves without any fear of reprecussions. Why? Because they are in the middle of fucking nowhere!
When the icelandic banks went bankrupt, the banks in great britain suffered a lot due to it. England demanded that Iceland cover that money britain/english banks lost due to it. Iceland just flat our refused. They literally just said that they aren't going to do it. Britain thethened them a bit, promised to go to war etc.. But Iceland still refused, knowing that the Great Britain will do nothing.
When Estonia declared itself independant from the Soviet Union, Iceland was the first country to acknowledge us. No other country was brave enough right away, they were all fearing the retribution of the Soviet Union.
But little Iceland, with its 300 000 people living in it, had the guts to say no to England and defy the Soviet Union.
Why is that? Because conquering Iceland would cost more than it is worth. Iceland is far away, meaning the troops would have to be transported etc, then iceland has rough turrain and then Iceland is a god damn barren wasteland. Nobody would fucking bother!
That is why Iceland is so badass, they take shit from noone. They do what they want with their population of 300k.
