Will the sexy concept lose its place as a main girl group concept? (1 Viewer)

Many of the girl groups who released hits with the sexy concept are either possibly disbanding or already disbanded with Brown Eyed Girls being the only exception but they aren't exactly the most active group now.

So do you think the sexy concept will lose its place as a main girl group concept if there is no active girl group with the concept and becomes more of a rare occurence?​

I don’t think it’ll ever disappear really but maybe as the main conecper for girl groups? Like I don’t think there will be many sexy girl groups, but I do think that there will continue to have sexy concepts within girl groups.

I don't think people will stop with the sexy concepts, but I don't see it being a main concept for a while. It was fun when it was still around and I'm hoping that it can become the main concept again.

There will for sure be groups who still do the concept even if it's just for one comeback but it'll be weird counting it as a main concept if there are no active popular groups using it which could also hurt the use it gets.

It already lost its place since the rise of the current top 3rd gen groups around 2016. In the past couple of years, we've lost Fiestar, Sistar, miss A, Secret, Dal Shabet, Stellar, BESTie, Spica, and 9Muses, seen little to nothing from RaNia, Hello Venus, Brave Girls, Girl's Day and Ladies' Code, are shocked to actually be getting comebacks from Brown Eyed Girls and Sonamoo, and are counting the days left for AOA and EXID. There's basically no one with an ounce of impact left doing this kind of concept because it's just not profitable. The current audience has no interest in it. The closest you'll get now is some RV velvet CBs, older groups like Apink coming to terms with their age, or soloists. Maybe it will make a return when 3rd gen groups outgrow their current concepts, but until then, the new groups keep getting younger and so does the core audience, and no one is replacing the sound that is disappearing with these disbanded groups.

Hmm I always feel like pure sexy was never a huge thing in korea or groups like Hello Venus would be super popular. Aoa -which was called a sexy group - half of their popular songs are more elegant concept (Short hair, Excuse Me, Heart Attack) and FNC kept on turning off and on the sexyness with each concept and didn't rely on just sexy.

I feel like cute/fresh concept over took it a while ago and now we are seeing a move towards girl crush or quirky concepts. It'll probably have it's revival later.

I will say though like a year ago or so people were complaining about them dying but never supported the girl groups that were debuting with them and now they are definitely fading lol

Hmm I always feel like pure sexy was never a huge thing in korea or groups like Hello Venus would be super popular.

It was the trend at one point around 2013/14 but trends come and go pretty quickly so by 2016 it got changed back to cute.
