X1 members and agencies have reportedly still not been paid a single won yet, even after 570,000+ album sales, events, etc

One X1 member's agency rep commented that they don't even know if the group is considered active or not, and aren't sure if they will be paid properly

its like turning up at a store and start working they wont pay you
unless its in a contract with the produce 101 series saying they will get paid
they legally dont have to pay anyone as there no agreed percentages etc

It really depends what the contract states. Is there a break-even amount? Do they get paid during of after promotions? Plenty of things can be defined in contracts, we can only speculate.

Not surprising if you look up how little the Wanna One members were paid when they actually had contracts. Each company got a fixed amount of money every 6 months which they had to half with the members which meant that the Brand New Music boys and the MMO trainees made half as much as everyone else because they had to split their check between two members...

They're getting 20% as 11 members which means that their salary is reduced even further per member. That might still be quite a lot but it isn't near enough the amount they could/should be getting. If several of them were complaining about their salary (it wasn't just Seongwoo) then that must mean that they're getting a lot less in terms of percentage than deemed the 'normal' amount for an idol.

Apparently, SM idols get 5% only for their music endevours. Most of their profits come from CFs and reality shows.

Does the lack of payment really surprise anyone? Companies even do this to their own artists. If any company is really complaining about lack of payment it is probably not on behalf of the artists. Even after getting paid a company takes their share before maybe giving a cookie to the artist. TBH the music industry in Korea is just one big scam. Companies get rich, artists remain poor unless they luck out on something else.

It worked out the best for Jaehwan because he didn't have to split his salary with anyone and his contract became effective after Wanna One disbanded, not during it, so he got all he could have possibly get. But I personally think that Daniel got the most out of all the boys, he had 7 solo CF's, on top of another 19 CF's that Wanna One had so the split didn't affect him at all but it definitely did affect Jisung. :(
