I miss them. Newspaper editors used to actually edit. And you could write in and yell at them for errors and they would publish a list of corrections in the next future editions.

I spent time without a phone in mid-2020 without a proper working phone(i forgot about an old phone in my possession tat could hv made calls n slow ass internet until i had a new phone) n read the newspaper every day.

The newspaper is finite n i grew bored nit hvg anything new to read for the day, whereas i could read new stuff online forever without repeating if i tried.

On the whole i would read my phone >>>> newspaper(its quite telling tat i dont think i bought a newspaper to read after tat phoneless period except a coupla times for reasons i dont rmbr[n the newspaper was sold out/unavailable at least 1 of those times]

The point was they were written better. If an idiot like me can find the errors then you really suck.

I’m not sure how this makes reading a newspaper more okay, the point is about sitting at a table and not engaging as much with the other person there. If you’re saying that people read the newspaper for a bit, get bored, and start talking idk maybe, but the act of reading the newspaper itself is not superior to the act of reading the phone itself too.

I think u missed my point of not hvg a phone NOT BY CHOICE, first chance i could get my phone fixed/new phone in mid 2020-i took it.

i read the newspaper everyday (n my old-ish, pre-existing books n other reading material like some magazines) OUT OF NECESSITY n boredom/broke-ness until i got funds to get a new phone.

I didn’t assume you were talking about yourself specifically. It sounded like you were implying that newspapers bore the reader more quickly, thereby allowing them to put it down and converse with others more in general, not in your specific situation. I get that that’s not what you meant now though.

My 70+ yrs old mom still reads the newspaper every day(or at least buys it delivered, i think she reads every day's newspaper just not on actual day if she's busy-she might read in the evening or 2 days on the next day but rarely miss more than 1 day. So its not bore-ing for some people_she does read facebook n the internet on her phone too, just usually not when she's out-i think mostly at home.

So i assumed the thread was abt personal experience n i wrote my personal experience, srry for the miscommunication
