So for me personally I used to hate the idea of them. But now I actually really enjoy them-even now as I'm writing this I'm listening to one instead of music. I think it helps the book go by quicker and it makes the reading experience more like a movie than it already is when I'm reading on my own. I rarely have the patience or the drive to sit down and read a physical book for hours on end-so I can get through a book faster with an audiobook than I can physically.

Just the other day I listened to an 8-hour audiobook in one day and technically finished a full book.
Yesterday, I started a new one and got 60% of the way through-also it's a thriller and there is a creepy ransom voice within it that legit SCARES the shit out of me. It adds to the experience a hundred percent.​

I never tried them but I am interested in them. I've tried getting back to my bookworm self but it hasn't worked. But I've listened to people read a chapter as ASMR, and I've retained pretty much everything that happened all while working. So one day I'll definitely try Audible.

If you want you can also see if your library has an app. That's how I do it so I can listen to expensive audiobooks for free!

As I am using Audible to 'read' a book [since I had a free trial a while back] I find my mind wandering and less focused than I would be reading a physical book. However, it is a more expedient way since I tend to read slowly [2-3 minutes for a standard 32 line/12 word per line page]. But I have found myself more prone to rolling my eyes at the prose that some people use than I would in its written medium.

I'm sure a lot of bibliomaniacs would take Frasier Crane view and look down their nose at audiobooks, but I think for some it is a way to read a book without having to deal with things like eye strain and entire days spent reading just to get 50% through a book, like I did with The Mortal Instruments and feeling sort of depressed because one of the protagonists spends book 4 moping around...

I prefer reading, it sounds funny when i listen to audiobooks cus i have set voices for the characters and hearing someone sound different throws me off
