Youtube might remove dislikes (1 Viewer)

Youtube has been testing removing public display of dislikes videos have gotten. You could still dislike, but u wouldn't know if majority disliked the video or liked it. They have said that this is for the well-being of the creators and it could work towards ending "dislike campaigns". However people have criticized it cause like-dislike ratio has also become indicator if the video's information is legit or if the video is scam or if it's just bad quality. I agree with the criticism cause I use dislike bar for that too- if the video has mostly dislikes I know it wasn't what I was looking for. If it was guide I know it wasn't good one, if it was upload of music video, ep, anything like that I know that it's just fake video trying to collect clicks and so on. Also dislikes were good way to battle against clickbaits- if video has nth to do with title and thumbnail plp usually dislike it.

honestly the few dislike campaigns could be dealt wit separately it just pure lazyness and bs happy bunny love to just remove dislike and blame it on campaigns...........

yeah honestly I feel like dislike campaigns aren't organized often enough for them to be a huge issue? Dislikes are definitely an important measure of content quality so I don't really agree with removing them.

I don't think it should be removed. YouTube already has a feature to disallow comments, why the need to take away likes/dislikes? Seems like a way of silencing people.

I have an issue with them doing this, too because it also partially helps to show you don’t want to be recommended certain things. Without dislikes, it feels like it’ll possibly cause an issue with the algorithm suggestions feature. Dislike campaigns are an issue, but YouTube would be able to detect that on how many dislikes a video would get in a short uploading time. YouTube has been going down hill lately with the way they’re trying to “fix” a few things and make it more positive and friendly. Especially with the recent creators scandals coming out. I guess it’s more trying to protect their own platforms brand

Feels like a stupid decision. So they can remove dislikes and also disable comments and there would be no way for people to know. If you must remove dislikes then you better make disabling comments impossible so we can still see the top comments and get the general opinion on the video.

Sounds like a flop decision considering some creators can hide them if they want to anyway so I think it's fine the way it is
