U hv said u wont watch Amazon Wheel of Time series, but im a sucker for sff shows (except Legend of the Seeker for some reason) so ill watch it to see if Rand on the show is tall(or if its a Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher casting type thing).

I got confused between @rand n RandAl Thor. I thot u meant @rand was 6'6".(iv nvr read more than the first/few pages of Eye of The World/From the Two Rivers but i read New Springs in the Legends I anthology n some or all Jordan's Conan novels, which i retain nthg).

lol. I suggest if you do decide to read The Eye of the World and beyond not to get those horrible mass market paperback editions, because they are the worst. Especially with books longer than 300 pages. It was much easier for me to read the kindle version. One of the only books that looks good on kindle without looking like reading a word doc...

It might be good to watch it before reading The Eye of the World so you could still enjoy it and then later read EOTW so you could see the difference and which is better for you.. Because I have seen some people say that they think the series is going to be better than the books.

Some of the stuff they seem to be changing seems problematic to them, but is it really? Why is rand having a harem viewed as bad. But perhaps I'm biased, as I have a grim outlook on monogamy. lol

I couldnt get through the first page/few pages of EoTW so physical copies arent the problem, i think. It was more the setting up/preamble afaicr. I did read 10+ Feist Riftwar(only read 1st trilogy n Mara trilogy yrs ago), Butcher Dresden, Reichs' Bones/Brennan, Brust Dragaera/Vlad Taltos, Bujold vorkosigan n Child Reacher books between 2014/5~2017/8 mixed digital/pb/hc from my library so i might see if i can borrow EoTW n try it to see if it makes a difference, but im still stalled on Scott Lynch's Locke Lamora 3rd book n Tad Williams' Osten Ard bk 2 Stone of Farewell(nvr read them originally). It might take me awhile.

Ill watch it regardless, at least the 1st episode. I liked Pratchett's Watch tv series or a homeopathic version far more than ppl who are more hardcore Discworld fans/readers.

I really hope none of the actors look like people I know.. Elijah Wood [Froto] looks exactly like my brother-in-law who I find extremely annoying and likely sub-consciously have put off rewatching the films because of this.

But the LOTR show is to be filmed in New Zealand, which gives hope to it being good since a lot of good series have been filmed in new zealand like Hercules and Xena...

Hercules n Xena hv always been cheesy camp tho, dont ya think? Legend of the Seeker i think was also filmed in NZ but i dint watch it(or not more than a few minutes) Roar i thot was interesting but i couldnt watch much cos of the broadcast schedule.

Elijah Wood seems to hv been typecast/disappeared from being cast/retired, im not sure which. I hvnt rewatched LoTR since a few yrs ago when i rewatched the extended dvds annually for 2/3 yrs until i stopped cold. Dvds are so 2010s.streaming is now/always better(until they beam 'em directly into our brains)

LoTR S2 is moving to the UK i read. Not sure if the cast will change or not.

I sort of agree. A lot of the dvd packaging now seems to have gone to shit. I have a lot of complete series box-sets and most of them [the packaging] looks like shit, such as for Grimm and Sabrina... The only decent one I have is for Stargate SG-1... But to your point, streaming just feels intangible to me. Like only a matter of time before such shows I like disappear from platform and I have to subscribe to a new platform in the future.

Mine was Warehouse 13, see below (but i dint watch the latest/last seasons tho). I still rmbr Cleopatra watever number n Jack of all Trades from the 90s, if only i realised Gina Torres would be in Firefly n Suits, i would made more effort to watch. Brisco County was ver campy fun too imo. Except for W13 on cable, CP, JoaT n BC on free tv i had no control over scheduling n missed a lot of episodes. Eureka with Rene Auberjonois n tat Ferguson somebody lead actor seemed not my cup of tea, others seemed to like it more than i gave it any chance tho(nvr watched any episodes/clips). I did watch Librarians n enjoyed it. Not all episodes watched tho.

Camp is just fun stuff, not taking it seriously-like Middleman tat was so good. But maybe it trancends/wasnt camp.

I subscribed to a cable service n had a recordable hard disc from them, over 200 hrs or so in less than a yr maybe. When i stopped subscribing n gave bk the box, all was lost. So dvds/streaming all hv pitfalls, like there's no Quantum Leap or Murphy Brown dvds/streaming in my country afaik.cest la vie, not enuf time to watch/read/listen to everything anyway unless the Singularity can be reached/my brain in a jar happens(functional immortality). HaHaHa.
