Simple Plan was popular. Apparently they named themselves after the Paris+Nicole series because they were watching it right before performing. Something I heard might not even be true.. Avril Lavigne was niche, but popular. I've heard she's popular in Japan. She has done Hello Kitty inspired stuff and did japanese commercials as well. Nickelback and JB are renowned for all the wrong reasons.
