I recently started watching Gilmore Girls for the first time and I'm on season 2 currently. Loving it to death. I've always wanted to try it but just never did until now.
I've always known Rory had a best friend who was Korean and it made me wonder if this show was or is popular in Korea today. Actually since this show started in 2000 that probably means Korea didn't get it until maybe a decade later if I were to guess. So I'm wondering if the character Lane helped this show find an audience over there.
I'm also aware of fan backlash against the portrayal of Lane and more specifically her mother. Although we do have to remember this was Hollywood in the early 2000s. Lane always acted like South Korea was a 3rd world country and her mother was a religious nut who would scare Kim Jong Um.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts.
