Why is it a big deal when a boy group covers a girl group's songs? Like often they are told that are masculinizing the song/dance. I don't understand what is meant by that. Isn't it supposed to be a cover, not a copy?​

Bgs do tend to have different styles, but I don’t see it as necessarily an issue. They tend to be more powerful, which is appealing on its own. It would be like me saying Loona cover of Cherry Bomb feminized the choreo and it’s terrible because it wasn’t as powerful (to be fair I’ve seen people say that, but not often). Neither feminine nor masculine traits are bad on their own, they just are different sometimes.

1. because if the girls do a bg song all girly all hell will be out.
2. the vast majority of bg covers of gg songs i have seen are awful and half assed. Especially in a variety show. And the concert versions are often more mocking than respectful.
3. If they drastically change it ie do a brand new mix and dance version i think that would work. like say growl on pd 101

Basically leave gg covers to artists who will commit like 17, and some of the SM guys.

Vocal covers are a different animal ofc. Most of those are much better efforts.

Which tbh I’m not sure what the issue was because Pentagon are a boy group so why not say they’re lovesick boys. I do remember the controversy surrounding that, and now there’s one with WEi who covered Tomboy and did that same thing

The issue was not necessarily them changing the lyrics, it was how that ended up conveying exactly the opposite of what the original lyrics convey

The original said, "You mom raised you as a prince but this is queendom, right?" meaning although boys are raised as "princes" and are given preferential treatment, it is still women who run the world.

They, however, changed it to, "My mom raised me as a prince, this is Kingdom, right?" Which... yeah conveys the opposite
