I don't hear NOBODY talk about boy groups anymore.

Companies now prefer girl groups cause even though they don't make quite as much profit as boy groups they make up for it in just drama and gossip.

Which in turn keeps people talking about them. No publicity is bad publicity.

I wonder if Western wokeness also plays a factor and now Korea is giving all the opportunities to women.

No, but I think that girl groups just have a wider influence on the general public. A lot of boy group stans appear to be in their own niche, just doing their own thing. But, I doubt that boy groups are out of date, I mean, take Ateez for example, they literally just became a million seller with just preorders for their upcoming album as a 4th gen boy group. They have a ton of stans, they just tend to keep to themselves for the majority part.

GG are not obligated to enlist. This would mean that there would be no gap in content and better for the agency. Wouldn't it?

Blackpink basically enlisted. That's why they haven't released anything in forever.

Sometimes it feels to me like 4th Gen hasn’t really started for the boy groups - we’re still in some 3.5 limbo for them as no-one has seemed to take the public by storm like Aespa and IVE have for the girls.

Yet for a tiny hand full of gg who extend enlistment is a non issue . the groups are dead long before the kids would have to join. or like in snsd's case most were inactive for a period = enlistment.

To Drew's question BG are fine. NCT units are selling 2-3 million per album many other acts are in the 1- 2 million mark, and they last forever.

TVXQ, SJ and Shinee for example still make mad money for just upkeep expenses. 2pm botb ect are just fine too.

It will be interesting to see how Aug plays out with SNSD , BP , IVE, Twice among the come backs.
