Not that all jpop idols are talentless, that is blatantly not true.

AKB48's new center Chiba Erii is absolutely awful at dancing
My oshi in Sakurazaka46 (who is quite popular) cannot sing, cannot dance and cannot rap... She is my favorite performer in the group and she absolutely beams with sunshine at all times

I might. I mean I like how Ayumi was able to persevere even though she went deaf in one ear. Great fortitude. And I do like Utada who is labeled as J-Pop, but has a mixing of different styles... I don't think the word "talentless" is the most accurate to describe jpop idols. More accurate would be undertrained. As I understand jpop, it is more about seen them grow over the years rather than being perfect from the beginning. They are meant to be relatable, like the next door neighbor who happens to be a performer.

Although some idols really ARE plain not good at singing/dancing

Ofc if those idols are also popular they make up for it in different ways, whether it be stage presence or personality, which IS a talent in its own I would say

My babie Kira would be a good example of it
She is just... NOT a good dancer. Sakurazaka gets a LOT more dance training due to their choreos and she still well... sucks lmao
But she IS a great performer as far as stage presence goes, she has a great smile and just seems really happy. She also just has a great all-round personality.

By the kpop standards she WOULD be considered talentless

Yeah, I get what you meant. However, they all (maybe almost all) get near zero training. I think the goal is actually to make room for growth. My ult bias, Nao, is not a good singer. She has grown better over the years out of practice, and I find the fans finds her relatable over that apparent flaw. It's worth noticing that working hard to get better is a frequent comment on jpop idols social media, like they are promising to deliver on what the fans are expecting from them.

Anyway, in the end, I care little for talent. I prefer to have the music I like, and it happens jpop is providing it, while I find a big black void on kpop. That settles it. It's jpop for me.

It's just acceptable to be not a good singer or dancer in jpop.
In kpop fans will do anything and everything to find ways to make it seem like their fave can sing or is good at dancing when they frankly are not

Yeah, you are right.
Nao may not be so good at singing; but she's a hard worker, and a great leader, and a total sweet heart. I think she's the main reason PassCode has remained together for quite long with minimal lineup changes (only one since 2015). ...And I think from PassCode, Hinako is quite talented.

On (maybe) a similar subject; do you know if there are as much fights among jpop fans as in kpop? I have found hackers to be quite friendly and peaceful. I've seen something similar among Ladybaby fans. Have you found something different?
