All of these acts were groundbreaking and really popular and amazing. But the 'actually' is needless, the point of the 'Paved the Way' statement in terms of BTS is -

BoA is weird to type tough. More or less Solos dominated after 2000 until TVXQ debuted.
Real first gen would be Sechskies, H.O.T, Shinwha, G.O.D

I also get why ARMYs do it, the amount of undermining BTS gets in the kpop community (so does BP, so not to say BTS is the only one. I can't believe the needless, oversize hate the girls have gotten the last few days, and I don't mean the criticisms about music and choreo.) is really weird and frustrating as well.

And to ARMY it IS a grand thing - here's this non-big-three group without extensive mediaplay and who were mocked and dragged for years after debut and almost went bankrupt and they're breaking into the west organically and it's amazing. It's so huge and we're just really really proud of them and hype! Also, there still seems to be a need to underplay their achievements, so we shout them and try to make sure that doesn't continue. We engage with reporters, we remind them BTS paved the way, maybe they do their research and discover it's true, and the group's achievements don't get downplayed or dismissed as 'crazy boy band fangirl power' in the next article they write.

It's obnoxious at times. but it works!

Well with the underdog story I have a problem with how ARMY often portray it. It is usually the new ARMYs who know that BTS used to be nugus, but can't really understand what it means.

Like I have seen so many people going around saying EXO-ls hated BTS from debut and that BTS were nugus in the same sentence. That is literally like saying ARMY have hated MVP since debut. Most army's go huh? when hearing the name. Same with EXO-Ls and BTS in 2013/2014.

(Not to mention, BTS weren't also as nugu as they are often said to have been... They literally won a MAMA rookie award in 2013)

And yes it is huge, but the underplaying won't stop because you annoy people. For reporters it might work, but for fans of other groups it just makes them really done.

Even EXO is lacking nowadays - and they were reigning once. "Ko Ko Bop" was more of a "Ko Ko Flop" and even their recent comeback songs doesn't really seem to stick with people (fans excluded, for obvious reasons).

Only idiots these days are claiming BTS are not doing something legendary or paving the way. That doesn't mean people like it being shoved into their faces, so if they get annoyed, they annoy people back.

And EXO lacking... Where? Literally where? I get that you might not like their songs, but quite a lot of people do! Not to mention EXO's Chen slaying the charts with his solo debut right now!

PS: A lot of EXO-Ls don't like Koko Bop either, EXO's best songs are almost always their B-sides. I know very few EXO-Ls whose favorite tracks are title tracks.

The thing is, people say others paved the way for BTS because its been proven that those artists paved the way for something. BTS are in the now, and they’re doing amazingly well. However until somebody in x amount of years does something else, nobody can say what BTS have done because we’re still currently in it, what BTS have done is so far only really benefitting BTS rather than kpop.

For example EXO back in 2013 were the first artist since 2001 to sell a million physical copies of an album. That led to a rise in fans buying physical copies of albums, eventually leading to BTS going beyond a million.
