What do you think of Draco Malfoy? (1 Viewer)

It seems like there’s a divide with how people feel about him. Some feel that he’s evil and just that, others say he was never truly evil and was instead thrown in an evil centered life. What do you think?
I personally really like his character, is he a bully? Definitely. Has he done horrible things? Yes. But I think he was also born in a family that held lots of judgement towards others and he unfortunately picked up on that. However I don’t think that he was evil, he’s given a huge task in the Half Blood Prince to prove his loyalty to Voldemort, or else he would be killed. A 17 year old (I believe at that time) is tasked with killing is Head Master of Hogwarts (Dumbledore) and to let Voldemorts followers into the castle or else he’ll be killed. I think by the end of the story Draco has shown that he is not in fact evil.

Fully agree with you ^^ He is my favourite character in HP, maybe one of my favourite all time characters in general. I feel that there was a lot more to be done with his character and I am not a fan of his ending, but at the same time, his growth was realistic, even if unsatisfying
One thing I'll always say is that Draco realised soon after becoming a death eater, that his dogmas & prejudices weren't actually his, just his parents echochamber. He is a bully, but he isn't a murderer nor an evil person. He is very morally grey and that's one of the reasons why I love him
Tom Felton is also an amazing actor & an incredible guy, so that also adds to my love for Draco. Cannot imagine anybody else playing him aha

Ofc he's not all bad. But Sirius was also born to a family with those views and he chose his own.

I don't really like him, but young tom was a cute kid

Very true, I honestly understand both sides of it. I wouldn’t say I personally sympathize with his character more of I don’t think he was truly evil like Bellatrix or Voldemort. Although looking back on the OP it does seem like I was sympathetic towards him. It might be because of Tom Felton’s performance tbh in the Half blood prince, I think he did an amazing job in that particular installment.

So for me-I think he was raised in an unfortunate situation and had he not been so eager to please and fearful for his life he would've been different. He is still an asshole though, regardless of whether he is actually someone who would murder another person.

Eh he and his family run from the final part of the battle The movie sort of hints during the epilogue that he’s sort of sees Harry as an equal over time.

I don't spend much time thinking about him. I really don't like him, but I do like Tom Felton and, oddly, do like the character of Lucius Malfoy and find the story behind the Black Sisters to be particularly tragic.
