Especially if it happened after they did something to someone else and then people shame the original victim ... I just don't understand it

You should be allowed to tackle a pickpocket right? I mean what other way are you gonna get your stuff back?

Well, you could pickpocket them back but first of all, they’re probably far away by then and you’d have to hurry to get up which would make your arrival and intentions clear, second of all, you can’t pretend to brush against them or anything, because they’d notice and recognize you and immediately get suspicious of why you’re there, and think you’re tryna get your stuff back, you wouldn’t have time to disguise yourself either. Third of all, most people can’t pickpocket.

would you snatch it from them? They’re probably not holding it in their hands and it’d be hard to do, and you’d still need to catch up with them

So what would you do? Call the police? And wait minutes for them to drive over, by the time pickpocket is long gone, and they might not even find them? When you have a chance to get your stuff back right then and there, by chasing pickpocket, tackling them and/or hitting them and taking your stuff back.

They’re not armed or anything, they weren’t violent towards you, but in that situation I guess violence is the only answer like tackling them. And it shouldn’t be assault

It was an experiment on human fear and pain What's stopping you from running into a wall at top speed rn? Because it would hurt right? And because of that you would slow down before you hit the wall, because you're scared of the pain right?

But other than that, fear, and being worried about the possible pain is what's stopping humans from doing a lot of things, not just something stupid like running into a wall. There's so many things people are scared of trying because they'll get hurt emotionally. And as for physically, like whenever you want to do something physical or a stunt, or even riding a bike or skateboarding, when you're learning there's a very high chance you're gonna get hurt, fall, and whatever. But then you grow.

So what I was thinking was I was gonna see if I could bypass that mental block, fear of getting hurt, but in a smaller way, my running into a wall

Wondering how anyone can really be proud of they are? If you look back at all the ancestors, all the cultures, there’s always something horrible that an ancestor did, and people just became less horrible over time.
