they literally sent two trainees to a survival show promoting as baby monster in February 2020 and both of them left so idk

I don't know how many were already introduced, but I find it very interesting

of course there's never going to be an agreement on any single thing - we can each have our opinions
hence why I said the general consensus is 2018
(I got into kpop in 2019 so I wasn't around then thus I'll accept whatever the general consensus is)

would you want to share your definitions? I'm always curious to see how other people define it

Mine are pretty close to the real definition, but I think 5 year increments is a better way to use it with the exception of 1st gen because the industry was still developing.

1st Gen = 2006 and before
2nd Gen = 2007 - 2012
3rd Gen = 2013 - 2018
4th Gen = 2019 to present

It won't happen until there is a major, enduring change in how kpop is consumed (compared to now) and big companies respond to it by debuting groups that suit the new trend.

All four generations so far represent a stage of globalisation (which influences trends in music, concepts, promotion, etc.) And they also involve common sense. I don't see the point of trying to force generations to be around the same length.

4th gen does have different "waves" (I'd say we're in the second) but so did all generations; these are not different enough to be considered different generations.

Kind of. Well not for so long, but it could go on for longer than previous generations, I think. But eventually, the majority of "original" 4th gen groups beginning to disappear would cause shifts in the industry anyway.
