Ok so I’m not lazy ok.
Anyways ofc among other things my mom thought I was lazy then ig. I get distracted really easily and things take me much longer than other people regardless of how good I am at it, etc.
So one thing I would do, when I got distracted, is I would like whip?hit?smack? myself on the back of the hand with a pencil when I got distracted. Not like a light rap, it HAD to sting each time. Bc you can acknowledge you’re getting distracted but that doesn’t rlly suddenly switch ur brains train of thought. I needed smth to SNAP me out of it, a shock. Anyways, yeah I would do that, and like I said, it would have to sting, and I also have a high pain tolerance, so it would be like hard, I had accidentally snapped pencils into two pieces before just by whacking the back of my hand and I had welts on top of welts on the back of my hand (but I also heal quickly so they went away in less than a day)
and part of me doing it I guess was to show my mom, look I’m not lazy, look I’m rlly trying, if I wasn’t trying, would I do this? Wouldn’t I just stay distracted instead of doing this?
So anyway my psychiatrist said instead of whacking myself with a pencil, I should wear a rubber band around my wrist. And snap that when I get distracted instead. Which I thought was weird then, I mean it still leaves welts if you make it sting (bc otherwise there wouldn’t be a point to me) but just now I looked it up and apparently it’s not weird and normal, snapping urself with a rubber band to stop bad habits?
so actually I guess my answer doesn’t even make sense rip
but anyways yeah I wear a rubber band on my wrist all the time now, I usually break them from fidgeting with it every few days or weeks, I just have like a whole pack I bought.
And I consider it like a must for me to have
generally tho ppl would not know it’s for that bc most of the time I fidget with it/ play with it bc it’s rlly hard for me to not have smth to do with my hands, so ig that’s just a plus (having smth to fidget with)
