what was the issue with them? Unlike kep1er they were not a rookie group when they took part?

Bad luck , bad choices.
The won the first round and got a benefit. They could choose any song they wanted to cover instead of one of the team they were matched up against. They drew OMG , OMG crushed Destiny and Lovelyz went against type and went with BEG sixth Sense. It did not play well. Folks judged them for not covering OMG and as good as Lovelyz are sixth sense was an awful choice.
They also did a weird version of Ahchoo their biggest hit . It gave the impression of them trying to be what they were not.

So OMG came out of the show monster winners and have gone on a late career run like no other girl group. Lovelyz fizzled out. both had had similar careers to that point.

Kep1ers problem aside from they were jut not ready is by mnet putting them in the show when it was clear they were not ready it put all the scandal baggage that gp999 worked so hard to get away from back into play.

Lovelyz had a worse outcome from the original Queendom since while they didn't exactly have the same hype as Kep1er as Lovelyz was an older group however it killed any momentum Lovelyz had and while most comebacks after Queendom either were the same or grew Lovelyz dropped from 54k to 35k and was the first time they had a drop in album sales while they had been steadily growing before that as well.

Like Rand said though it was just down to poor decision making on their part mostly with them choosing sexy concepts for pretty much every round except the Fandora round where they did a musical concept which was a fun stage but that was already the 3rd round by then and they spent the 1st round doing a sexy version of Ah-choo and the 2nd round covering a Brown Eyed Girls song instead of Oh My Girl due to what was supposed to be a benefit they won however I'd say that only harmed them more than just doing a meh cover of one of Oh My Girls song would've.

oh sorry I did not mean successor in the sense that they continue IZ*Ones concept, it was just as Kep1er is the next Mnet survival show girl group after IZ*One. Also you said the produce series was more popular, in my opinion that has a direct correlation to the produce scandal, as people have lost trust in such shows and don't even tune in anymore, which is the worst possible punishment for any show. Ofc other factors can also come into play here, like produce having a better concept for the show or other reasons. The reasons you gave only come into play after the group was already formed, which is ofc not helping the situation at all.

ah sorry again, I did not want to downplay the situation for IZ*one, I'm sure the girls also had to go through some hard times to no fault of their own, but in the grand scheme of things it has no effect on their careers. At least none of the former IZ*One members seem to have to deal with any after effects of this (thankfully!) and can continue on, with some being the brightest stars in the industry right now. Its a different story if you want to make an argument, that IZ*one would have continued on without the scandal and extended the contract, but that would still mean starship would have to agree to it.

as a wiz*one who had to go through the drought we faced due to the produce scandal, it just feels weird seeing people who barely knew iz*one downplay the impact of the scandal on them because we had to work for all the achievements iz*one got without the gp on our side. i don't think we would have survived if wiz*ones werent united ngl that was one hell of a ride now that i look back on it. the scandal did affect them even post-iz*one, it's just not as obvious due to the success of the post-iz*one groups but even before the post-iz*one groups debuted, knetz were already planning to boycott them. the groups received quite a lot of hate at that time too. i can see where you're coming from regarding the produce series being more popular than the planet series due to the loss of trust, there may also be other reasons like what youve said but i guess we'll never know. maybe the survival show market is just getting saturated with idols or people lost interest in them, who knows

The scandal hit just as Bloom IZ was to come out a year after debut.
The company and the girls went dark.
Yet every day fans trended them number one with a new hash tag. For 3 months until they set a new date for the album.

There was discontent over the final line up long before there was an idea of wrong doing.

Loosing IZ*one was a waste , but the pieces have managed to thrive with out the negative energy that clung to the scandal.

I really had no idea how things go down in queendom and that groups can lose the publics favor like this... I thought some groups gain more attention, others less, but not that it can diminish their standing it sounds like a double edged sword now to take part in the show

oh wow... thats quite the loss in sales so it was not only the public they lost favor with, but also their fandom?

Oh I did not realise in Rands post that BEG is Browned Eyed Girls But I see, a cute group like Lovelyz tried to force a sexy concept, like to start over with a different entity after the show? That would also explain why the fandom diminished..

I really downplayed the situation due to my lack of knowledge, so thank you and the others for correcting me

Oh I never knew about the pre-debut hate IVE or LSFM got or that people planned to boycott them, apart fromt he typical Wonyoung hate bandwagon, but as we already learned: my memory is not to be trusted

But I also do not follow groups pre-debut usually, so that could also be ar eason why I missed that
