Their demands were too high so MTV moved the videos to their less popular sister company VH1 where licencing fees were lower and moved to less expensive but more profitable "reality: programming."

and then neither really played constant videos again.

Lol i use to video dj with a friend who had a boatload of equipment.
We would go set up huge screens and play videos instead of spinning records (or cd's )

this brought back the memories when my TV had this channel VH1 classic that played songs up from the 60s to 90s 24/7 and i watched it all the time when i was younger because i wanted to seem cool for how much i know about old music

VH1 used to have this thing at 2-5 AM where they would play non stop videos. I was ditching school back then, so being up that late didn't really effect me.

No channel is safe from the vapid modern celeb culture that reality tv has created. VH1 is bullshit now too.. Fuck even E! used to be so much better. I mean E! was vapid for decades, but it got extremely devoid of any personality as soon as the Kardashians became really big (i.e., season 6).
