public school teachers actually get paid more than private

I don’t understand much about taxes here if I’m being completely honest. I know we get taxes taken from our paychecks.

Is how much taken from your paychecks a percentage, that’s the same for everyone, regardless of how much they earn? Like if someone earns 20 times how much you do, do they get the same percentage of their paycheck taken for taxes, or is it higher cuz they’re richer and that percentage would affect their ability to buy things less drastically

the money has to come from somewhere if suddenly all surgeries become free. So I asked if she wanted it to come from taxes because you can’t just make all surgeries free out of nowhere, it’s not as simple as that

especially the amount of skill required with it sometimes being life or death and the years of training and schooling surgeons go through

Me neither, I mostly just know it’s by taxes because people love to claim that free healthcare is terrible because it means more taxes

Considering Bernie sanders plan for free college with insane sales taxes would’ve turned out horrible it could depending how it works

the fact that Medicaid has a line As in have less than this income and it’s free but a tiny bit above Iine means thousands out of pocket for necessary is insane

for a moment I thought it was april 1st when I read the title.

On monday I have surgery. I got a call letting me know that my out of pocket expese is $3600.00 instead of the $350.00 I was expecting because I have to pay 20% out of pocket until I hit my Maximum out of pocket of 5k. This means it's an 18,000.00 dollar surgery. So here's what gets me. If I wait because I can't afford that and I end up with strangulated intestins it becomes 100's of thousands of dollars in medical expenses. My maximum out of pocket is still 5k so I wouldn't ever pay more than that. Makes me want to wait and make the insurance company pay more but then it becomes life threatening... But they have a payment plan! I love the US... most of the time. It's also kind of jacked because if I had no job it would all simply be covered my Medicaid... So, in this case, having a job is costing me a lot of money.
