I was not expecting their arrival until tomorrow, but they got here early, so...LET'S GO!!!
Now, I admit when Starship first announced it, I wasn't necessarily 100% on-board.
It's really hard to get a feel for something based on promotional images alone.
Removing the box from the bubble wrap and you get the first real difference.
The v.1 box was flimsy card stock but looked pretty, this box is heavy duty in comparison.
The minute I opened the lid of the box, I knew this lightstick would be just as beautiful as the last.
AHHHHH!!!!
First observation is that the beloved glitter remains!
Oh, and instead of black, this time around it's gray.
They really did the packaging nicely, the top of the lightstick has a plastic protection bag.
The cardboard insert is cut to cradle the lightstick while stopping short enough to allow it to slot into the stand in the box itself, keeping it from just bumping around inside.
A new addition with the v.2 is the inclusion of the aforementioned stand, something I sorely missed with v.1 and highly appreciate. It even has a slot for placing photocards, postcards, photos, etc. Also comes with the usual wrist strap. The v.2 also includes the new Monsta X logo embossed onto the battery compartment, as well as the group name printed in silver on the stand fitting.
Now, of course, being a lightstick, it has a purpose, and so I definitely had to test it out, and let me tell you, this baby is bright!
I can see why they went with clear plastic this time around, it makes all the difference for the shine. I had a really hard time even getting my camera to capture it without it just being glare. While the light is white by default, it is bluetooth enabled for central control at concerts.
Should also point out the new design resembles a diamond, and looking at it from the top, the center is a star, though I didn't manage to snap a picture of that. Overall, I'm quite pleased by the new version, and while it's still going to take some getting used to, I can't wait to put it to good use in August!
