Okay, maybe not the drops and autotune. But a lot of newer bgs are not very diverse, I agree.

Male soloists for the most part have nicer voices to listen to than bgs.

It's not really my thing. I find it loses focus on melodic content and puts the beats first. I do love some male soloists, especially Crush and Dean, but that's not the kind of music I hear from BGs.

Girl groups tend to have a wider range of genres and concepts, although BGs do have better choreography overall but I think that's because they're more performance oriented, if you get what I mean.

Tbh I mainly stick to groups with mature concepts, so the range of concepts offered by GGs isn't that important to me, it's just that particular one combined with female vocals isn't something BGs can really deliver. I do like BG choreography a lot more, but I really couldn't care less if every group just sat on stools and sang like that. I'm mostly just listening to audio anyway, I rarely watch MVs more than two or three times.
