My name is uncommon, I have never met anywith the same name as me. The biggest thing I have noticed about having an uncommon name is that I have to break down how to spell or pronounce it. Or that people just give up trying to get it correct. I often get “do you have a nickname?”​

I met one other person with the name when I was 6 and they were 7 in gymnastics class tho

it’s phonetic but people mispronounce it a lot by skipping a letter anyway

a lot of times with correct pronunciation they think it is Japanese or I am which is understandable, Japanese people thought my dad was Japanese when he went to Japan even and I look very much like him but more tan and shorter

my last name is one of the most common for my ethnicity but it’s romanized and the romanization is spelled differently than the most common spelling though (for the same name)

I understand wishing I had a different name I was given as first name. My middle name is a basic western first name, but not very common as a middle name. I liked that name cause you COULD NOT mess it up.

Ah my “2nd name” isn’t western but it’s common enough in like south Southeast Asia and is also a name in other cultures and short and easy enough to pronounce

none of the rest of my immediate family has phonetic names bc vowels aren’t the same as in English but it’s easier to go by the “American” or “English” way

For my legal name I often have to say “it sounds like (insert random white girl name) but change the first few letters”. People still mess it up and add completely different sounds

is it Slavic if you don’t mind me asking? The phonetics are so different and I don’t think I personally would be good at pronouncing Slavic names (first or last)

Its not, despite having Salvic roots through ancestry. Its of Welsh origin, specifically derived from their mythology.

Well it was also a name of a song my dad liked (probably gave it away there but oh well) And my middle name is based off an actress in a very popular movie. So I wasn’t named based on my origins, but for pop culture reasons.

What if we are both actually goddesses?
