tbh, I don't think it's because of this tho, as funny as that would be. I don't think it's related to the US recession fears and the unwinding of Yen carry trades that have spooked markets either tho.
I think it's probably a combination of their Q2 net profit - reported on Wednesday - being down 85.9% YoY, and investors reflecting on the fact that Suga apparently travels around without his entourage/security.

Although I wonder if people are thinking that this ties in with the LA mansion that Bang PD obviously embezzled company money to buy. Like, maybe they thought there might have been a legitimate reason for that expense before and now they're looking at the situation and being like... "no, that's a sex pad..." lollol

The stock situation is interesting actually. People keep bringing in graphs from the beginning of the year and saying the whole industry is down and JYPE is doing the worst. Actually, there was a bubble in 2023 that has burst. JYPE's stock rose highest (in percentage terms) during that period, and so they had furthest to fall. When looked at over three years, though:
JYPE is up 27%
SM is up 4%
HYBE is down 42%
YG is down 42%

And that's even with SM also being embroiled in corporate turmoil.

I don't have any answers as to why, for any of this. It's obvious HYBE is poorly managed, but they've got a new CEO and have announced corporate restructuring. The only complaint I'd have is that HYBE America is dead weight. But that's why I'm not a trader!
not to mention the whole dui thing which may grow a life of its own. Just insanely dumb.

This is not to say that hybe and bhs have not f- up they never should have expanded her role until after the og source group debuted.
Do u follow football?(maybe soccer to u?) There are multiple millionaire players who get bought and sold(or maybe their contracts/work employment thingie) and never play or play way less than fans think they should. In my opinion it's to do with keeping the player away from playing for opposing teams even in another country and league(to avoid them playing against them in the Champions League). To my mind anytime a company makes a bad deal like HYBE - MHJ I'm thinking it's to avoid MHJ joining another company n competing against HYBE subsidiaries, which is nuts- she left SM, JYPent nor YGent wouldn't hv hired her in a million yrs, n CUBE/RBW/Starship I think would hv known better than to let her in the door. I think Bang as quoted wanted to step on SM(or aespa - who's the shaman now, if he predicted a SM gg even before debut!) to the extent of extending to MHJ generous terms to learn SM's secret sauce!

Even in Champions league(I hv barely followed it last 20 or so yrs, maybe 30?) it's the unpredictable players tat surprise u with their performance, as in Euro 24 Lamine Yamal was outstanding.(I nvr heard of him before n I think many didn't either).

So I think Bang genuinely wanted MHJ(for her proven track record at SM) but also 🤔 kept her on overly generous terms to prevent her joining other agencies. If he only knew how much it would cost him to be over generous/trusting; LSM was master at long term planning!

HYBE-ADOR VP responds to sexual harassment and bullying sllegations in an in-depth interview
AKP STAFF

HYBE and its subsidiary ADOR have become a black hole consuming all the entertainment industry's controversies, with recent headlines adding provocative claims of "sexual harassment cover-up" and "workplace bullying."

To summarize, Vice President A of ADOR has been accused by employee B of making aggressive remarks and committing sexual harassment during work-related interactions. Employee B, who claims to be the victim, has taken to an anonymous social media account to continue exposing these allegations.

Here is an interview with Vice President A, who has been accused by B:

Q: You've been called 'Min Hee-jin's right-hand person.' What do you think about that?**

A: I joined the company on February 1st of this year, so how could I be her right-hand person? Even when I worked at HYBE, I only met CEO Min Hee-jin two or three times in meetings and didn't know her well. The 'right-hand person' label started appearing in articles about a supposed power struggle, which is baffling. Yesterday, I saw false articles claiming I received 3 billion won and changed my statements. It's terrifying to see these false narratives being crafted, especially since HYBE's internal investigation questioned why I would stake my career on someone I barely know, showing they are fully aware I'm not her right-hand person.

Q: What did you do at HYBE, and why did you move to ADOR?

A: I worked in finance at HYBE for four years. During that time, I had a panic attack due to pressure from my superiors and was even taken to the hospital by ambulance. That experience led me to decide to leave the company. Then, early this year, I learned that ADOR was hiring another vice president, and a friend recommended me. I joined because I thought it would be an opportunity to gain experience in label operations. However, it's unbelievable and extremely distressing that I'm now being attacked by the company where I worked for so long.

Q: Let's talk about the sexual harassment allegations. B has accused you of being the perpetrator.

A: I have never committed sexual harassment. B claims I invited her to an unwanted drinking event, saying it was because she was a "young female" employee, which made her feel uncomfortable. But I never used such an expression. That gathering was a work-related event, and B had specific responsibilities for feedback on the event, long-term planning, and partnerships.

Q: Can you recount what happened that day?

A: The plan was to have a meal and then look around a store. The client had reserved a Chinese restaurant, but since it was fully booked, we switched to an izakaya. I informed B in advance that she could leave early, and I gave her the choice: 1) leave together, 2) finish the meal and then leave, or 3) finish the meal, look around the store, and then leave. I was shocked when B later accused me of sexual harassment, especially since this coincided with her resignation.

Q: Did HYBE's HR department inform you in writing about the sexual harassment investigation?

A: They concluded that it was difficult to determine it as sexual harassment.

Q: What were the findings of the workplace bullying investigation?

A: It was also determined that workplace bullying could not be established.

Q: B claims that only you gave her a poor evaluation, leading to conflicting claims about the evaluation results.

A: There are two evaluations during the six-month probation period, one every three months. When I joined, B's mid-term evaluation had already been completed, and she had received a failing score.

Q: You reportedly offered B another job after she resigned. Is that true?

A: When CEO Min Hee-jin suggested reconciliation, I wanted to resolve things amicably. I proposed finding a role for B where she wouldn't have to work directly with me. B initially responded positively but ultimately declined the offer.

Q: If you believe you did nothing wrong, why did you recently send an apology message?

A: Reflecting on my communication methods, I sent the message as a way to comfort a former subordinate. I also found it distressing to be dragged into this public controversy. I thought B must be feeling similarly, so I reached out out of moral obligation.

Q: There have been reports that you retracted the apology. Did you actually do that?

A: As I mentioned, the original intent of the apology was not to admit guilt. However, seeing headlines claiming I admitted to the allegations was shocking. I clarified that the apology was not an admission of guilt. B distorted this by blurring parts of the message and framing it as a retraction of the apology.

Q: Are you considering legal action against B?

A: I've suddenly been labeled as a "workplace bully" and "sexual harassment perpetrator." When I asked B to take down her Instagram posts and correct the false reports, she accused me of trying to silence her and told me to do what I felt was necessary. I now believe I must file a lawsuit to clear my name.

Q: B has reportedly filed 11 additional complaints of workplace bullying.

A: Yes, I heard that she filed seven complaints before leaving and 11 more after her resignation. I think this is excessive. I'm just a vice president in title, not a board member, and I'm on the same level as B as an employee. I can raise issues too, and I've been deeply troubled by this.

Q: Can you elaborate on these issues?

A: During a salary adjustment, I transparently mentioned that a review was needed because B was earning more than me, which hurt my feelings when she rudely asked why I was earning so little. Additionally, the long messages she claimed were full of respect for the CEO were actually full of gossip about me, which was a shock when I first saw them. B had been badmouthing me behind my back while pretending to learn from and appreciate me in person.

Q: This is a serious issue that could damage your career. Why haven't you spoken out earlier?

A: Even though I was deeply aggrieved, I was scared to enter into a conflict as an individual without power. I never thought of responding because the sexual harassment claim was proven false, and the matter was resolved through reconciliation. But B resurfaced and labeled me as a perpetrator of sexual harassment and workplace bullying. I couldn't remain silent when she was spreading falsehoods. False accusations can destroy a person's life. I'm the victim here, not B.

Q: Do you have anything you want to say to B?

A: I have more questions than things to say. If she truly believed she was sexually harassed and bullied at work, why didn't she file a legal complaint instead of posting on social media? Why did she file 11 more complaints after her previous claims were dismissed, despite initially saying her goal was reconciliation? Why is she attacking me with false information? And how do these stories keep making headlines so quickly? It's all so different from my usual experience that I can't help but wonder.

Q: Any final words?

A: I hope my private messages stop being brought up. I'm tired of the fake news. Many of the stories are now being written as if my messages were part of some fictional narrative. It's frightening to be attacked in this way by a large company.

ADOR Announces New CEO + Min Hee Jin States Decision Was Made Unilaterally

ADOR has announced a change in their CEO.

On August 27, ADOR announced that Kim Joo Young, an HR (human resources) expert, has been appointed as the new CEO. According to ADOR, Min Hee Jin will no longer serve as CEO, but she will remain at ADOR as an internal director and continue overseeing the production of NewJeans.

Below is the full official statement from ADOR.

We at ADOR would like to inform you the following.

On August 27, we held a board meeting and appointed Kim Joo Young, ADOR’s internal director, as the new CEO.

The newly appointed CEO Kim Joo Young, is an HR expert with experience in various industries and will be responsible for stabilizing and reorganizing ADOR’s internal structure.

Former CEO Min Hee Jin has stepped down from the CEO position but will continue to serve as an internal director of ADOR. She will also continue her role in producing NewJeans.

Additionally, ADOR’s internal organization will now separate production and management. This is in line with the multi-label operation principle that has consistently been applied to all other labels, although ADOR had previously been an exception where the CEO oversaw both production and management.

With this personnel and organizational restructuring, ADOR plans to fully support the growth and greater success of NewJeans.

Thank you.

Following the statement from ADOR, a representative of Min Hee Jin stated, “[Min Hee Jin] was suddenly notified on Saturday, [August] 24 that a board meeting would be held on [August] 27 regarding a change in the CEO position, and she attended the meeting via phone call on [August] 27.”

The representative continued, “The decision to dismiss CEO Min Hee Jin was made unilaterally without her consent, which is a clear violation of the shareholder agreement.”

“The company announced that CEO Min Hee Jin would continue producing for NewJeans, but this was not discussed with her and is a unilateral notification from the company,” they added.

The source further clarified that nothing has been decided yet regarding this matter.

ADOR's 1st Official Statement:

From ADOR:

On the 27th, we held a board meeting and appointed Kim Joo-young, ADOR's internal director, as the new CEO.

Kim Joo-young, the new CEO, is an HR expert with experience in various industries. She will focus on stabilizing the organization's structure and internal operations at ADOR.

While Min Hee-jin is stepping down as CEO, she will remain a board director at ADOR. She will also continue her producing work for NewJeans.

In addition, ADOR's internal organization will separate production and management functions. This follows the multi-label management principle consistently applied across all other labels, though ADOR has been an exception, with the CEO overseeing both production and management.

With this personnel change and organizational restructuring, ADOR plans to fully support NewJeans' growth and future success.

Thank you.

ADOR's 2nd Official Statement:

gonna put this here too

She has been dead man walking since they found out she was thinking of a way to get teh company.

lol the funny thing is.

BTS is kinda imploding and if she had played her cards better it might have worked as it did when she was given New Jeans and ador to begin with.

She got greedy. She could have just chilled and got that leet payday down the road but she is stupid.

She may still get some of that but, her days appear to be numbered.

They convened the board and got her fired and sent her a video call lol. Just a few months later than the og board meeting.

Min Hee Jin Claims She Was Unfairly Removed As ADOR’s CEO Despite HYBE’s Explanation

Min Hee Jin and her legal counsel have claimed she was unfairly removed as ADOR‘s CEO.

In a statement shared by Min Hee Jin’s legal counsel, Min Hee Jin and her legal representatives have claimed Min Hee Jin was unilaterally removed from ADOR’s CEO position.

Hello.

This is Markol Consulting Group, who is in charge of media communications alongside law firm SHIN & KIM LLC, who is representing Min Hee Jin.

The board of directors dismissed Min Hee Jin from her CEO position at the meeting held on August 27, at 1 pm.

This decision to dismiss her is an illegal decision that directly contradicts the shareholder agreement and the provisional injunction against the prohibition of exercising of voting rights

The shareholder agreement states that HYBE should take necessary measures such as exercising voting rights so that Min Hee Jin can maintain her position of CEO and executive director of ADOR for five years or should other necessary measures need to be taken, a director nominated by HYBE should still have their voting rights exercised at ADOR’s board meeting.

HYBE tried to hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting on May 31 on the topic of dismissing Min Hee Jin and internal directors but the court ruled that HYBE could not exercise their voting rights in favor of that agenda.

This is because there was no reason for them to dismiss Min Hee Jin or have her resign.

HYBE claims the shareholder agreement between them and Min Hee Jin has been terminated but that claim has no grounds. Min Hee Jin has not acknowledged the termination of the shareholder agreement.

Therefore, we would like to make it clear that this decision to dismiss Min Hee Jin is a clear violation of the shareholder agreement and disregards the court’s decision.

Currently, there are reports circulating the media Min Hee Jin is stepping down as CEO but will remain in her position as an in-house executive director and continue to be in charge of NewJeans.

This is based on the information shared by the board of directors, which is a clear lie. CEO Min Hee Jin was dismissed against her own will, she did not resign.

And the ADOR board of directors unilaterally notified Min Hee Jin that she would only be in charge of [NewJeans’] production.

It is deceiving the public to provide media play as if Min Hee Jin stepped down from the CEO position on her own will and would only take on producing duties.

The board’s decision also had issues with its procedural process. According to ADOR’s articles of association, the board of directors is supposed to convene meetings once each director is provided a one week advance notice.

However, at the extraordinary general meeting, there was an amendment to the articles of association, changing the notification period for the convening of a meeting from one week to one day advanced notice.

We strongly suspect this was a preemptive measure to not provide ample response time, with the idea of dismissing Min Hee Jin in mind.

In fact, the chairman of ADOR’s board of directors, Kim Joo Young, only shared the meeting agenda of changing the company CEO on August 24.

The court’s decision has revealed there was no validity to the claims that HYBE made of her violating company policy.

Nevertheless, the board of directors, which is composed of a large number of directors appointed by HYBE, decided to dismiss Min Hee Jin and even misled the public by distorting the fact that she was not dismissed, but resigned.

We would like to state again, the decision to dismiss Min Hee Jin is a violation of the shareholder agreement and an illegal decision that is ignoring the court’s decision.

— Min Hee Jin

HYBE Shares Rise After ADOR CEO Replaced

Led by Chinese music streamer Cloud Music and K-pop giant HYBE, the Billboard Global Music Index rose 0.2% to 1,832.97.

HYBE shares benefitted from the company’s dismissal of Min Hee-Jin as CEO of the imprint ADOR, gaining 4.4% in a rare positive week for a stock that has fallen 21.0% in 2024.

Min will continue to produce music for ADOR artist NewJeans, but the label will restructure in order to separate management from production. Turbulence between HYBE and Min dates back to April when HYBE reported Min to the police for breach of trust and other allegations. The company stated that Min “deliberately led the plan to take over management control of the subsidiary” and ordered ADOR’s management to pressure HYBE into selling its shares in the subsidiary. The following month, a court blocked HYBE’s plan to dismiss Min.

The controversy has coincided with a steep decline in HYBE’s share price. HYBE was 230,500 won ($172.33) on April 19, the trading day before HYBE announced it would investigate Min, and had fallen 20.0% to 184,400 won ($137.86) by Friday (Aug. 30). But the HYBE-Min dispute isn’t the only explanation for HYBE’s sluggish stock performance. HYBE’s three main South Korean competitors—SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment and JYP Entertainment—have lost an average of 38.1% this year.

The 20-company Billboard Global Music index rose 0.2% to 1,832.97, bringing its year-to-date gain to 19.5%. Eleven of the 20 stocks gained this week, while seven lost ground and two were unchanged. Cloud Music, the week’s top music stock, gained 5.2% to 97.70 HKD ($12.53), bringing its year-to-date increase to 8.9%. SiriusXM improved 2.8% to $3.29. Tencent Music Entertainment gained 2.0% to $10.44.

Spotify was effectively unchanged at $342.88 despite Evercore ISI raising its price target on Spotify to $460 from $420. Universal Music Group gained 1.5% to 23.63 euros ($26.14) after Exane BNP Paribas upgraded the stock to “outperform” and a raised its price target to 27.50 euros ($30.42).

While HYBE was among the week’s winners, other K-pop stocks had another off week. JYP Entertainment, purveyor of Stray Kids and TWICE, fell 1.5% to 51,100 won ($38.20). BLACKPINK’s agency YG Entertainment lost 3.8% to 34,150 won ($25.53). And SM Entertainment, home to RIIZE and Vespa, slipped 5.4% to 62,800 won ($46.95).

Stocks were mixed this week as investors await news from the U.S. Federal Reserve that it will cut interest rates in September. In the United States, the Nasdaq fell 0.9% to 17,713.62 and the S&P 500 rose 0.2% to 5,648.40. In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 gained 0.6% to 8,376.63. South Korea’s KOSPI composite index dropped 1.0% to 2,674.31. China’s Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.4% to 2,842.21.
