So around the 4:01 mark, Lil Dicky says "we forgive you Germany" after saying "we love you India, we love you Africa, we love the Chinese". Some say it was wrong of him to exclude Germany as a nation from the "love" he was giving everyone else. Others say there was nothing wrong with he said.

What do you guys think?

I mean, this dude is pretty irrelevant but this video has over 100M views and it was from a lot of people actually watching the video, not zombie fans streaming all day and night. In my opinion, I thought it was completely unnecessary to single out Germany like that, especially since that whole section was showing love to other nations.

Totally agree! I cringe at that part every time, that's why I never bothered downloading the song...
It's so sad cause ALL the profits from this song goes into earth saving projects and organizations. He should've thought twice before adding that part in, if he really wanted to make a difference.

You seem to be in the minority because a lot of Germans from the beloved YT comment section seems to have been hurt by the lyrics:maheart:

Is it because whole Nazi thing.. personally I wouldn't hold that against whole nation after all this time, it's good to remember horrible things that have happened to prevent history from repeating, but it's not like there hasn't been horrible things and genocides elsewhere so just focusing on Germany is even counterproductive in my opinion. Even the one's mentioned as loved have lot of issues in terms of accepting other races and etnicities and have committed atrocities. Lot of atrocities and genocides are being committed around the world right now. So since the songs purpose seems to be spread love, I dont see any point on "forgiving" Germany unless the artist themselves thinks they have sth personal they need to forgive Germany for.

I wouldn't mind it if he also added other country in the "we forgive you ..." part
like china, japan, Russia etc... for all the thing they did in the past like Germany

But the fact that he exclude Just Germany sounds unnecessary to me

plus I still find it stupid to use it, stop living in the past, germany already pay for their mistake and people already forgive them

uhh I mean I don't really mind but I can see others being mad about it. Personally I don't think it was offensive though.
:maheart: knew you wouldn’t mind too

He shouldn't have done that not only for the reasons listed but also him saying we forgive you Germany is meaningless for the reason that if you really did forgive them you wouldn't have included it over 60 years later, that's not forgiveness, that's holding something against someone.

Lil Dicky deciding he wants to be a big dick, but only figuratively :taesip:

There's really zero reason to single out ONE country like this, so many people have committed so many crimes throughout history. European colonization, slave trade, Japanese Imperial crimes, Russia under Stalin, and these are just the ones relatively recently.
Also saying "We forgive you Germany" implies that the entire nation was guilty of what happened which is just eh. Wrong move.
