Oh!gg comeback seems more unlikely the more time goes on long past 2018.so just 3 more years... sigh.
The regime change at SM seems to have been the last straw.Oh!gg comeback seems more unlikely the more time goes on long past 2018.
Does it seem likely Sunny (Lee Soonkyu) will be active in 2027 to join in OT8 SNSD activities? I just thought of another OT8 possibility but I don't want to jinx it 3 years before it's time LOL.
Well, her dad was a manager not in SM but in another agency that she joined in between her 2 stints in SM. idk if her knowledge/experience of her dad+uncle's time in Starworld/SM makes her want less to just work in music management. The regime change at SM seems to have been the last straw.
Weird cuz i really thought Sunny would get into management and team building.
But she seems happy to just chill now.
Yeah, in general, I don't think companies seem to care much about their artists' long-term career, especially if it was potentially outside of their company. Maybe part of that was the fact that, for a long time, idols realistically only really had the 5-10 years and then the public moved on. Maybe the industry is slow to adapt. It does seem kind of weird that Sunny wasn't set up better for something but it's hard to know how interested she is in anything else.SM idols post bg/gg life seems like there's not much preparedness by SM itself; mostly I only know of music/variety/acting and academia/other pursuits seem scant(Gdragon or TOP in Big Bang/YGE seem better prepared for post bg/idol life, tho CL/Minzy/Bom idek wat they are up to nowadays) Luna seems out of the public awareness rn too!
lol, that does seem like the half-ass nonsense SME would do for their "don't worry, SNSD is still totes top priority!!!" thing they were doing after Sooyoung, Seohyun, and Tiffany left. Wild to me that they still broke top ten with zero promotions with this song, and SME couldn't be bothered to do anything else with the subunit for the six years they had all the members.+ theres really just no full choreo for lil touch what was shown in the mv is all there is
I have always thought SM did a far better job preparing them for a career post group than any other agency. Jyp particularly sucks.Yeah, in general, I don't think companies seem to care much about their artists' long-term career, especially if it was potentially outside of their company. I think I generally agree. I think GD is kind of an exception, because GD was going to be successful no matter what. Like his success wasn't dependent on YGE making him nice music, and he wasn't dungeoned when they got bored with him. I think if he had wanted to release another album in between his last one 2017 and now, YGE would have made that happen for him. Compare that with Minzy who talked a lot about wanting to go solo, but she had to leave the company to make that happen.I have always thought SM did a far better job preparing them for a career post group than any other agency. Except song writing like say a GD. GD and top were a bb duo and ofc he got alot of credit for songs.
Getting a song thru SM A&R team since company artists/and maybe everyone work is submitted nameless.
SM artists got solo work some before debut. like Yoona. And they were always willing to sent 2-4 ppl on a show.
Did they mess up? Sure Seohyun's missed opportunities are a great example.
How many SM artists were on WGM, star golden bell Star king and all the other shows especially 2nd gen and early 3rd gen.
Heck JYJ left and were still very successful solo.
The issue is fans want BP style solo success for all the artists and that is never going to happen. For what ever reason they fill a particular ich for many.
So you get 1 Taeyeon (Jessica and Jessica /Krystal would have been big but that is another story)
1 Taemin ect.
Luna for example has a career in musical theater, Amber could have lived in variety in Korea but she wanted something else..
Lee Hyori is the prime example of being the exception, I think. She made it happen for herself too, for the most part(I believe).Yeah, in general, I don't think companies seem to care much about their artists' long-term career, especially if it was potentially outside of their company.
