I have already seen this video.

I'm sorry if I come off as flippant. Someone irl once told me I was the most cynical person they have ever met.

I'm not sure if you think I don't believe the allegations. (I do believe the allegations.) I just think that it is so commonplace that if someone boycotts YG for including sex trafficking in business transactions, they should probably boycott a lot of other businesses as well. I feel that the problem is deep-rooted and the system is corrupt.
This so much

I respect all of your choices to not boycott YG if you don't want to
To be effective at boycotting, you shouldn't respect our choice not to boycott. You should try to persuade us to boycott as well. You need a lot of people to make a difference. Put your all into it.

Im well aware of how serious the allegations and how bad the sex industry is. Never said I didn't nor did I write off the allegations

You did not understand my point at all

If you're so bothered by this, boycott all of kpop since all the entertainment companies facilitate this behavior.
Boycott YG, boycott Big 3, boycott Produce, boycott everyone
Don't just boycott the one that got caught.
Bringing down YG does nothing to change the rest of the industry
That is untrue if yg was indeed 'brought down' changes would be made.
You have to punish the ones who get caught ...... dang that is the foundation of law and order.

I seriously doubt that.
Let's say YGE is some how miraculously brought down and goes defunct.
Blackpink, iKon, Winner etc have spent years under contract with minimal income and have had to resort to other unsavorey methods of getting income.
The Yang Brothers still have millions in the bank and possibly other investments to make money from as private citizens.

They're the only ones held accountable and the spotlight is only on them. What incentives do other companies have to change their ways if people portray the YGE/BS situation an extreme and "bad apple" situation?

People were actually prosecuted in the Ja Yeon case and here we are, ten years later in a similar situation.

People are well within their rights to get outraged and protest but you actually have to follow things through and mean it. Not just make a show of just feel like you're doing something. If you boycott one (or claim to boycott something you never supported) then boycott them all.
That's how you get the industry to change instead of making a show out of it at the expense of the innocent.

No you punish those who are caught.
You can not assume others are guilty.
the entire law system since at least Rome is built on this principle.
Currently that is under siege in the world with just accusations being enough to convict.

This however is not just an accusation, it is very very hard to see the actions described and not see guilt.

As a side note on pay i thought folks be always claiming that yg artist are making bank. And in no way are they getting Minimal pay... Talk to firestar, Spica ect.

If the company is dead contacts are null and void and they are free agents. What would BP bring in on the open market contract wise?

Heck fans of those groups ought to pray for YG to go under.

If this was a unique situation, I'd absolutely agree with ypu and probably would boycott YG too, not matter how much I love Blackpink.

But it isn't and never had been.

This isn't a situation where we can just assume that those that haven't been caught aren't guilty. This is how the kmusic industry, or a majority of business in Korea, operate. There have been so many signs of that over the years if not blatantly stated to the point where it's naive to think companies aren't doing it. The same way we can assume BS isn't the only club behaving that way

If people focus on YG and only YG, all he'll do is serve as case study on how to not get caught.
It wouldn't change anything

then we do nothing and take it. If we never start to demand more then no change will ever happen.

I cannot, nor will I assume that all companies have as poor ethics in this area as has been shown to be the case at YG.

Even on that tv show with seulgi moonbuyl somi sohee sujeong dana Yooa they said Sohee experience was not normal.
Are there bad actors certainly but i have to assume most are trying to do the right thing.

Lol i have toyed with the idea if i won big big big to buy up all the girls contracts so no one thought they had to be 'sponsored', but even that would not solve the problems. For example i would have never thought GNA was under that kind of financial pressure.
Further more Ambition has always had those who will look for a easy way.

I guess the difference between our viewpoints is the amount of skepticism/optimism on the scale of all this
Regardless, something needs to be done

I'm going to give a rude, unpopular opinion and answer to this whole boycotting YG

I don't and say no.

Why?

I don't give a crud. Is it because I'm uncaring and devoid of all emotion? No, it's because I have my own life to live and some korean business on the other side of the world is the least of my problems and worries. I'm weary of people who have nothing better to do than obsess over this whole YG nonsense. You sound like my parents that say they'll stop supporting Netflix because they're extreme right wings that don't like the idea of Netflix creating a documentary of Obama. They refuse to go into Targets, they refuse to buy a particular yogurt brand, and the list goes on.

I have work, bills to pay, family to take care of, my own health, and the last thing on my mind is some company on the other side of the world.

just because others record hidden cams it's ok for me to record hidden cams...
if you're in the right place with laws to support then technically... yes

life isn't black and white

I agree it's wrong but countries work with laws and morals are subjective to each person and the culture they grew up

So many points here, but some of my thoughts:

So far both YG and Seungri are associated with prostitution, not rapes, date drugs and hidden cams. Of course they might have sth to do with those, but police isn't investigating that and there hasn't been any prove out in public that would tie them to those. With YGE the issue seems to be "just" ties to prostitution at the moment. Which is illegal and bad in my opinion, but lot less than rape and hidden cams. YGE isn't associated to Burning Sun either so I don't think BS sins should be thrown at YGE right now, not at least until there is any evidence out of the ties.

@RandAlThor & @JakeyWantsCakey I think there is ways to cut financial support towards company without cutting all support from idols. Bad reputation gained from media and investors turning their backs to YG will hurt them more than people not watching Blackpink's youtube videos. Music, albums, performances.. those are art that artist make and put out, but things like CFs are mostly just company deals.

Then I wonder what the goal of the boycot is. If it's to bring YGE down as company and label, well that's sth that would have tons of effects to artists within company and I personally think it would be a shame since YGE is great platform of creating music, it's sth label does excells at. For some it doesn't seem to even stop at company- they want to also bring down the artists which is ofc sth antis want anyways. In terms of change within company, well it would been wisest if YGE had changed their CEO's already, when there was vote of confidence, and maybe reduced role of YG and his brother in the company. What YG could do and probably should is acknowledging people's concerns and saying they will investigate the company and work together with police and change all the practices that have issues or are illegal- and punish those responsible both in company and by law.

I'm just sad about how the anti-YG mentality is also anti-artist mentality from simple boycotting of their music to outright insulting them.
