Although not a relatively common occurrence, it still definitely happened. The USPS never officially permitted the mailing of children; it was more of a loophole or a consequence of the close relationships between postal workers and communities in those times.​

@eclipsoul they would put postage stamps on the child’s clothing and they would be transported via train to wherever they were mailed to (usually like grandma’s house or something)
