i have always said SM and all the big agencies are worse odd that the produce deals .

It why i hate agency survival shows and refuse to support them and the groups. Its already so brutal.

Sounds right, given that the Saturday audition has 5-7? ( Heechul, Yoona, Taemin, Yeri, Haechan, Jungwoo {some say Seulgi but i have never heard her say she was a Saturday ) debut since founding.

I dont know the exact number of trainees but it's possible the success rate tat is referred to is the number of trainees accepted out of the thousands of applicants, maybe. Say if 1,500 applicants or more: then 5%-8% of applicants succeed into joining as trainees, not 5% of applicants debut. Since the number of trainees isnt public knowledge(only SM rookies quantity is known i think n some fall by the wayside without debuting). Im only guessing since "hundreds of annual applicants" is also referred to. 3%-8% doesnt rlly mathematically make sense to me.

That’s true, it may be trainees accepted after applicants. The wording the AI gave is super vague so it could reasonably be either. Though ngl, based on the end of the post, plus the fact that it cited Quora analyses for industry sources, I kind of fell like even the AI itself might not know what it’s saying

Until i finally got a tiny bit of understanding.
But the chart does not show any number of actual gross trainees per year or in aggregate.
Just the 50 who did make it since 2010, and i cant even tell if some of the boys were EXO member lol... you would think after 15 years i would be better at reading Korean.

Yeah that’s fair, Korean is easy to learn but still not easy to read without consistent practice imo. It is an interesting graph, the gap between the number of foreign female idols and every other group is crazy. And ngl even as an NCT fan I didn’t realize how much later Xiaojun became a trainee compared to the rest of WayV. And Johnny being a trainee before 2010 seems crazy, though it’s also in a way understandable

I do wonder how much closer male and female foreigner numbers would be if NCT didn’t exist. Since all of the foreign males are/were in an NCT subunit. But I imagine some number would still debut in other groups, but the question is how many
