no i wouldn't just insult that company

Earning trust and privileges isn't actually guaranteed by going along and keeping your mouth.

SM is a fan driven company, so if an idol raises a complaint publicly, fans are more likely to mobilize and make an issue out of it.

I don't think it's that big a deal or that SM will retaliate just because of what he said. Just about every group in that company has multiple members that have talked shit about the company

Sure, it wasn't a smart move, but he didn't actually say anything against the company, just stated a fact. While that is going against company rules, and isn't very smart if you want to have a healthy relationship with the company, you definitely gain the sympathy of the audience, which would be a smart thing to do if he plans on suing the company in the future. It's a similar situation with the HyunA incident. Was it smart for her to go against her company and to reveal something they said not to? No. But was it better for her career in the long run? I'd say so.

why does that matter tho lol he still gets something out of it. sm helped him create his own agency in china after all. my point was that they'd stay if it was beneficial to their careers and that sm isn't hindering their success in china

She hasn't released anything, but similar to Blackpink, once she does release something (though it may not be for a while), it will be very highly anticipated. Now, the PSY thing definitely wasn't her fault though. In a scenario in which the company you go to is stable, gaining sympathy from fans can be a major game-changer.

It'll depend. Giving Wayv an independent label was a good move but there's stuff still holding them back. It seems the V label gives them some freedoms like with filming mvs themselves and stuff like that so will help with any artistic differences so most likely it definitely will come down to money.

For a Chinese member of NCT to get the same promotion and freedom as Lay there would need to be an exodus of nct china members lol. Honestly, if Luhan and Kris hadn't left Lay would have gotten dust. He wasn't the most popular Chinese member and even the two most popular weren't getting the promotions they wanted. After Tao left SM had to find a way to keep Lay or show they treated him right. So Lay got a lot more freedom and promotion as a soloist earlier than he would have if the others had stayed. There was people calling for exo's disbandment at those times and the last chinese member leaving would have made the situation even worse.
