Did you know that unlike on land, soldiers on bridges must break their rhythmic stride and not march in unison? This is due to an event in which British soldiers broke a bridge by marching in unison at the natural frequency of the mechanical resonance of the bridge, causing it to collapse and soldiers to lose their lives.
Just kidding this isnt about those types of bridges, although that first bit is true. I was thinking of bridges in kpop recently, and how some of them feel so uninspired, specifically bridges where the instrumental gets quieter/slower, a vocalist sings their part, and it picks up at the end for the last chorus.
Its obvoiusly popular for a reason, sometimes it can show off the vocals really well, and sometimes its just a nice spot to change the tempo of the song. At this point, it doesnt make an impact for me though, just because of how common it is.
Another popular choice is to have the only or one of the only rap sections be the bridge part in a more vocally focused song, particularly for rap duos. While this is popular, I dont find it overused to the point its frustrating to me. Sometimes they combine the two which doesnt make me thrilled but hey, at least its something.
As for bridges that are actually impactful, those are rare imo. Sometimes its intense vocals, sometimes its intense rapping, sometimes its a really cool dance move, but either way, the way kpop currently is bridges tend to be very forgettable because theyre all very similar.
What do you think? Are you a fan of a certain type of bridge? Do you find any overused? What are some of your favorites?

A very small sample of just some of the songs that do this (not small lol, but considering how many songs have it
)
