Yet every single gg member has an identity both within the group and with out.
Take RV
Each girl has been a perma tv show member.
MC's, Drama, Variety Radio ect. all kinds of work.
The list is not small.
Each girl has had music featuring. while Irenes were only duets with PBG now she has a single.

Fx and SNSD are the same .

No they are not all Taeyeon, Yoona or Jessica but what other agency consistently does as well for its kids?
none that i know of

I cant speak to new bg but up to shinee the same was true with BG's

They ofc are not perfect and do not do what I would wish but they do the job of making sure the members are not single track.
There are times i would stake the A n R team out in the sun :)
Just need to remind myself the glass is more than half full.

I think this shd hv been done in 2017, before the 3 left SM. I wish they had done this if for no other reason we could hv OT8 bk (if the girls wanted SNSD sub-label ofc, I mean Boa n Suju got sth); why not SNSD?

it was very strange. especially as the members continued to release music.
Although i am not sure really how much of a difference it makes. its not like SJ or BoA have released more music since the change.

I hvnt looked into SuJu sub-label but maybe it's to keep them in SM n prevent TVXQ/Shinhwa/EXO situation (if timing was after EXO crisis/split). Same w/Boa as director/watever her position in SM; to keep her in SM.
Wish SM n SNSD had come to similar agreement(especially since I think JYJ, Shinhwa n Highlight -the most successful refugees from labels-hv at least 1member embroiled in sex scandal this year n retired. Unless there's another group who left their label I forgot, who reformed n hv no scandal.)
I mean is there another way for them to remain together?(I feel SM is just fooling us abt OT8 possibility-like with f(x), they don't want to put the nail in the coffin by announcing disbandment/no chance of OT8.)
At least contracts might be ending this year [for f(x)] or next year/or soon for TaeSunYoonHyoYul, so maybe SNSD can pull a Shinhwa or Highlight n reform outside SM. (See my misgivings above abt re-forming without SM/original label n lasting.)

Female idols just don't have the shelf life that make idols do. Honestly, SNSD hasn't been the members priority since 2015, they've always wanted their own individual things and SM couldn't remember provide that to everyone, especially SooSeo

It's easier for them to be under an acting label and release music than be under an idol music label and be actresses. Seohyun didn't have significant success as a solo, she just had the physical sales that comes with the SNSD title, she can take that wherever she goes. Sooyoung wasn't that popular and Tiffany's reputation is Korea was decimated so they really didn't need SM either. The only SNSD members to make significant headway as an actress were Yoona and Yuri, to an extent.

Seohyun and Sooyoung have had a lot of success these last few years as actresses and while Tiffany hasn't found success as an actress like she initially wanted, she is making headway as a solo

With RV, it really depends. Tragic titles aside, they're going really strong for their fifth year. SNSD had stopped doing multiple Kcomebacks a year after 2010, they were more focused on solo activities and Japanese promotions. Red Velvet is more than likely going to have a couple more comebacks this year

To really stan(my definition) them I'd hv to listen to their whole discography n watch most of their variety. Rn I've only watched very little n not motivated to watch much more. Also only interested in Wendy n Seulgi (Joy Irene n Yeri I don't know much abt them) but not enuf to watch/search for their varieties.
If I thot they would last ten years together, I might spend time watching n catching up. S'why I asked u.
(If SNSD only has singles once a year, Id be so sad.) but I might be ok if they had a OT9 20th (or 15th) anniversary reunion/comeback(only a few more years[8 or 3] to go.

Most idol girl groups don't last 10 years. Red Velvet might be the exception but you can never really know
Nothing is really guaranteed
2-3 more years is pretty great too, that's all the time I had with Soshi before TiffSooSeo left but I cherish it

Watch the level up seasons, at least give 1 a shot. I really like those. WI and IR are worth it too. While they are not SNSD, RV does very well if they know the hosts.
