Why hasn't this long wait between comebacks haven't killed BLACKPINK like it would do to a Western gg? (1 Viewer)

For example if Fifth Harmony or Little Mix had a similar problems with their label manager and with them delaying new music or waiting too long to release it. What's YG doing to BLACKPINK would have been chart and social suicide to a group like Fifth Harmony or Little Mix. Why is it different in KPop? Does this long wait keep the Blinks on their feet with waiting?

YG by nature of their fanbase is about the only kpop company that can get away with this.
Western acts release an album and focus on singles from that album for 1-2 years.

Even snsd paid the price after the boys. Especially after IGAB.

It's only been 4 months though, after 6 months is where it usually gets dangerous in kpop however YG acts can get away with a year between comebacks because of their reputation.

As a kpop group, objectively Blackpink should be dead

Western groups can get away with only releasing a song every few years so long as they promote singles.
Kpop acts have to comeback a few times a year to maintain.

Luckily, Blinks are a persistent fandom and BP always comes back with public friendly hits

They aren't immune to suffering from hiatus however, hence KTL's underperformance compared to D4

I disagree. The saturation of comebacks in the last 3 years is mostly due to TWICE's impact. They own quite a chunk of market share in the idol market that, because of their constant comeback rate, they have unconsciously forced other groups to do the same.

If we look at 2nd gen groups, having a comeback more than once a year was considered being overworked. Most acts just had one promoted comeback for the whole year along with digital singles and side projects. Just compare the amount of albums most 3rd gen groups have in comparison to 2nd gen groups. It's crazy how much 3rd gen fans get fed.

mostly because blinks are loyal to bp, any other kpop group would have suffered the consequences of a "strategy" like this. blackpink is different though and each and every day theyre breaking records and growing their fanbase. blinks see the potential in blackpink, we want to make them bigger, and a lot of us will do anything to get there. blackpink have also had nothing but hits, whether it's internationally or domestically, they have a reputation for releasing music that many people like. the girls also communicate and try to connect with blinks as much as they can, so it's not like theyre just ignoring us until they release new music again. they've talked about new music and wanting more comebacks, theyre just as frustrated as blinks and so the feeling is mutual.

It’s the classic YG strategy that works for its gp friendly groups and artists. Winner did well with Sentimental despite underperforming a bit like KTL and AKMU managed to get a mini national hit after years of hiatus. But it would seem unfair to compare kpop gg with the western girl groups. Boy groups and girl groups never had a good record of longevity after the 90s and even then, it was only a few select boy groups.

I don't think there is quite group out there that could replace Blackpink for the fans? They are girl crush group and there is others, but they aren't still same as Blackpink. Usually when fans have to wait too long they move on to something else, but I dont' think Blink have nothing to move on to. And although they don't like it, there is still enough there to keep them somewhat entertained.

I think Blackpink's situation is weird for any generation.
Having multiple comebacks wasn't really unheard of, even if it was just a repack. I think just about every top GG did it in the beginning and waned off after 3ish years or as many comebacks as possible once they released a huge hit. Twice has made it to where the consistency needs to be sustained longer than it normally would

Blackpink had two comebacks their first year and then barely one a year. Not even an additional single.
2ne1 by this point in their careers had 3 times as much music as Blackpink did.

Snsd came back at twice levels for all of 2009 and 10 ( shoot 2 cb in 2007 and 2008 too even with the black ocean hiatus). The expansion into Japan killed snsd comebacks forever after, 1 or less a year. 2015 had 2 with party/Lionheart but nada for 2 years and holiday.

Tara was on fire with CB's until the 'scandal'
2 was super common 3 was seen a bit . Now twice and Izone doing 5 with real cb in japan is unusual.
Iz one will have at least 3 Japan with the new album and they will have to have one more K cb at least for this years 5 maybe 6.

Western groups don't make comebacks half as long as KPOP groups. Little Mix took 2 years. Fifth Harmony already kind of...

Well BP not promoting anything else after a comeback a year is an anomaly. But well, they're surviving. Idk how but they're doing it. Is it really the YG effect, I wonder. Or is it because they've somehow managed to get all of Teddy's appealing singles. Who knows.

Nobody comes back at TWICE levels. In 2017, including Japanese singles, TWICE has had 5 comebacks. In 2018, including Japanese singles, TWICE had 6 comebacks. It's crazy how much they promote. I'm in awe that, so far, we've only got Fancy as a Korean comeback in 2019.

Thing about T-ara is, along with 2 comebacks a year, they had numerous side projects and digital singles making it look like they were releasing music throughout the whole year. It didn't help that most of these endeavors ended up in hits lol. Even that CF song they released did well on the charts. Omg even the remix of Roly Poly charted. Their digital prowess was crazy.

snsd did the 3 korean cb a year deal twice and izone ramped it up with real Japanese cb's.
Snsd in Japan was strange only 3 albums but all those singles.
As a fan i just never bought anything until the album came out.

IZ*One is mixing akb with kpop 3 song minis, But a different song on each version in japat but mid sized Kpop albums (8 songs). i think twice is doing minis of some sort too..lol you know me i just track the numbers like ohh its +/- 300k again...

IZ*ONE is apparently releasing another Japanese single soon. It's called Vampire. They'll be having another Korean comeback before the end of 2019 too. Soon, they'll be second best selling GG this gen, surpassing RV. It's crazy.

They are on fire sep 23 or 25 i think for vampire. J cb are easier i think fewer tv shows and a promotion cycle that is kinda spread out.
Yea they have to have a K cb 1 album is not going to get it done. Plus they will piss off the fanbase who may feel that they are focusing on Japan too much.(really they should end the year with a total of 3 cb each country although he may go for a dec cb too)
Day 2 and day 3 are still to come but they are not selling like iz one while 180k is not horrid ....
