Variety Any Invincible Youth fans? (1 Viewer)

Recently I've been rewatching Invincible Youth,reliving the good old days,this show is the definition of iconique



And it got me wondering; what would it look like if they made another season today?
They did make a second season back in 2012 but it was a major flop.

But in recent years we've gotten so many new iconique ggs - twice,red velvet,blackpink,itzy,mamamoo,g-idle,
g-friend...a G7-G8 made out of these groups would be EVERYTHING.

Do you think this could work today?
Ofc the first season was made during the peak idol craze in korea but still,I think it could at least do decent.

But i think it'll be a big flop in term of entertainment because new idol care too much about their image and look pretty and don't really have this idgaf i just want to have fun image that 2nd gen idol had

Agreed. Before, the "idgaf" image sold like hot cakes and the idols who adopted it became super popular. However now, this kind of image wouldn't be viewed as positively as it was then. The reason? Well, I'm not entirely sure but, if I had to guess, I'd say it has something to do with the huge number of idols getting into scandals these days. It's really affecting their image options. Even GFriend have chosen to portray a more reserved image these days and they're as crazy as it gets on variety shows.

Mamamoo too really seems to keep their crazy side for themselves
I think it's also because of how the stan culture evolve too
Before 2nd gen fan supported in everything they do just like for example if a super M group debuted before they would have been happy and support them

But now 3rd gen fan bring toxicity in kpop and keep cancel everything they don't like
To the point that idol have to watch every little gesture they do to be sure that they'll not make a bad buzz etc...

IY1 is fantastic.

There was so much wrong with IY2 but first off it was just too freaking nice.
big huge custom built house. Also the townspeople did not engage at all.
The chemistry could have been ok, but the adults were horrid. Casting a known super player like boom was silly.

To do IY3 you would need a concept and a town that embraced the self sufficiency motif.
you have to be willing to drop multimillionaires into really tough situations and let them bond.
There are girls who could do it and would be super fun i could probably come up with 20 or so.

the PD series shows you the kids can bond thru the adversity but its gotta be a real challenge.

IY2 was playacting at its worst.
It forever killed any interest in Suzy for me she was just so unlikable.

Yewon made something out of it but then blew it up.
