Amber's Become One Of My Favorite Voices In Kpop

Hello.

It's Eman..

If you would have asked me a year or so ago.

Hey Eman! Who you gonna get into from FX?

I would have never answered Amber.

She just wasn't even on my radar. And I'll be honest I sort of didn't pay her much mind because she wasn't my usual idol type.

But fast forward to her Rogue Rouge album release and she really caught my attention.

I don't know ... Her album just hit me somehow. Like I didn't necessarily love every song on it. But it was her voice and the whole production that just charmed me. It had this emotion and authentic quality to it that really connected with me. It felt like it was truly her out pouring her heart out in this way that was very moving. Like she just sat down her bedroom and wrote some songs and sang them. Some sound a little amateurish. Some aound a little rough. But all sound like they're hers. Only hers. And it's just. Charming.

I've fallen in love with her voice. I have no idea if she's a technically good vocalist but whatever she's doing it just resonates with me. It's smooth and distinct and beautiful without being too delicate. I find it emotionally connective.

Even on songs I don't necessarily like, I enjoy hearing her voice.

Anyway, she's definitely charmed me with her efforts and I look forward to hearing more from her.

If you haven't given her a listen check her out.

Here's a few songs.

Here's her new song released today.

Well she can keep releasing through Soundcloud and YouTube.

No one will stop her.

She may just have to find another way to pay the bills.

Oh i think it makes enough to break even or did, but that was the problem with f(x) and each members solo post 2015.
the fans would whine like children, but not buy stream ect.
They will blame sm for not promoting them.....

You tube ill bet is pricey can't be cheap getting all the stuff together for a video. 50-100k at min in the us would be a guess.

It is on SM, f(x) would have sold with a comeback and them not selling as a solo or unit doesn't really prove anything since that's the case for plenty of groups.

then its a trio.. Krystal claimed they had songs but just could not get together ever with enough time to record.... Not sure i believe that but she said it. Also not sure how much enthusiasm they had internally for a trio.

At the end of the day f(x) had a very abnormal career. Almost no concerts or touring there had to be a reason for that. I would be hard pressed to find any comparable boy or girl group with ballpark their fanbase/sales who did not do one or the other. Its not unexpected that the end of the group is abnormal too.

There was a simple reason which was that SM saw f(x) as an experimental group to basically mess around with as Girls' Generation already took care of their public image for them then when Red Velvet came into the picture they had a group that was good for their public image but also could be experimented with

Yes, with Red Velvet, SM learned to mix up the experimental releases (Zimzalabin, Rookie) with GP-friendly ones such as Red Flavor and Umpah Umpah.

The f(x) catalog feels like a long series of experiments. Part of the problem (for me) is that the songs are electronica-heavy and feel dated.

I dont buy that, shinee is the bg analog and they have done both from the get go.

I think there were internal issues.
I had always thought it was Krystal's strength/ stamina but, they did the one concert after 4 walls to mess with that.

Maybe they made so much money from the other gigs that they did not need to tour. I find that very unlikely considering how much work sm acts normally do outside of music.

SM left a LOT of money on the table with f(x) for no reason. Your theory that they were an experiment needs better reasons. Since groups and bands began the model to make money is touring. From bars to the bigger venues all went down that path heck even the monkeys toured.

You cannot compare how SM handles their boy groups and how they handle their girl groups, TVXQ are still touring and having comebacks into their 15th year despite losing half the group meanwhile Girls' Generation lost half their group and neither made a comeback even as Oh!GG nor do they tour so bringing up SHINee is irrelevant.

I think SNSD Oh! member's do not want to promote anymore. Taeyeon has not promoted since Fine. Yunho was out there for this last solo album.

I think SM really does give some weight to the artist desires. Especially post the first contract.

There is some difference in the way the market treats both genders as time goes on but, that should have zero to do with the first 3 to 5 years of a groups life.
Sm gets all this flack for being the huge corporate money grubbing monster yet they throw away millions of potential earnings from proved sources?

Does not compute.

SM tries crazy weird stuff and they are stubborn (see station ) but to not even attempt to follow the time tested method of money making for 6+ years ........

f(x) was always just a glorified project group anyway. I'm glad she's on her own and finally able to earn for her own skill.
I love her music :nekolove:

SM is definitely not a money grabbing company as the way I see them is they do things that they want to do and each group has been made with a goal in mind post TVXQ at least.

SM might give some leeway on groups since they have station now which they can basically put anything on and not have to worry however I don't think SM would not put them on tours just because a member isn't feeling it today which if any was probably Sulli after her comments about not faking it.

I'm inclined to go with Rand on this one.

It's seems very unlikely to me SM would have a group that was intended to be non commercial.

The resources and effort required to sustain a group would be hard to justify to corporate boards if there was not a articulated strategy for profit generation and pursuit.

The outside chance I see for the "experimental" argument would be if FX were someone high up's (like Sooman himselfs) passion project. Even then, a "pure research" project seems hard to get past a corporate board.

STATION fares better as a possible project with less monetary focus as you'd be able to argue it develops your artists and offers them an less expensive to produce and release outlet for artists the company doesn't want to provide large scale investment backing to. That can be justified to a board. An entire group seems much harder.

To me the likey explanation for FX and their lack of full scale advancement is there being some internal reason that the group wasn't pushed.

Having your leader in China not interested in or needing your group (Victoria) plus having your de facto visual and public darling not likey needing the group due to having other projects and attention outside the group (Krystal) seems a recipe for stalling a group. Having two key members that have other pursuits is a hard scenario within which to full push a group. (Not to mention the addition of Sulli's departure).

I'd argue EXO is a different animal as they had a larger number of central members with which to fall back on. Not having the full participation of two prominent members would have a much more paralyzing effect on FX in my assessment.

Anyway, we'll need a SM insider to write a book to really know for sure.
