I think it's less to do with them tanking and more to do with other people getting last minute boosts in votes...

Two producers from CJ ENM were arrested on the 5th for allegations of vote manipulation in the Mnet show ‘Produce 101.’ According to a new report, main PD Ahn Joon Young has reportedly admitted to fabricating results.

The arrest warrants of another producer affiliated with CJ ENM and an entertainment agency executive were rejected by the Seoul Central District Court. The Court claimed that their involvement in the crime did not justify an arrest warrant.

The allegations against PD Ahn Joon Young, the producer who oversaw all 4 seasons of ‘Produce 101,’ include fraud and bribery.
He manipulated the final rankings at the expense of other trainees’ potential debuts and the viewers’ votes.

After police investigation, PD Ahn Joon Young reportedly admitted to manipulating the results of ‘Produce X 101’ and ‘Produce 48.’ However, he has reportedly denied manipulating the results for the first 2 seasons of ‘Produce 101.’

Yesterday, police conducted a search on another agency that manages a trainee who apparently made it on the final line up through this vote manipulation.

Police are also further investigating whether Mnet producers manipulated the votes for other audition programs.

Tbh, i'm currently watching S2 (cause i wanted to see Nu'est boys) and it does seem rly fishy that Jonghyun who constantly was in top 11 and even 1 in second ranking didn't make it. It kinda worked out best way though since NU'EST W became rly popular after the show. But it does seem like they did limit it to only one NU'EST member for Wanna One, but i'm not sure if it was meant to be good or bad thing for them and Pledis

I don't think they will add or remove members from current groups. At least if there won't be some kind of leak or announcement who was supposed to be in top 11 and who not. If there will be it could be that they will need to due to public backlash.

I hope that those who should have gotten to group get compensated though.

Even they stop manipulating further shows, they still can influence viewers -> who ever gets the most screentime, they can let certain trainees look bad, that was the biggest complain for me in PD48. 😟

Mabey he then realized that wow these will work and the agencies would rather have a piece of a sure thing than take a chance on their group.
Especially seeing what happened to dia, pristin and gugudan.

For pd 48 I would be far more convinced that the results from ep 11 were manipulated than the final.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Pledis had a deal before-hand with Jonghyun being pulled out of the group and that's basically vote manipulation... but in Pledis case, having NU'EST who can comeback and earn a lot of for them + Minhyun in Wanna One is far better deal than having both Jonghyun and Minhyun in Wanna One or only Jonghyun in Wanna One (that would have meant no NU'EST revival because he's a leader, main rapper and face of the group so his importance in the group is greater than Minhyun's, they would have never promoted Minhyun, Ren, Aron and Baekho as a group, especially considering that Aron never went on PD101).

It does, I won't disagree with it, it does seem odd in a way. But I'll leave this here. She's most devoted LOVE on r/kpop and I think she makes valid points, especially that people like to use Jonghyun in their arguments, but won't bother supporting him at all, that's pretty much all I see and it gets tiring, like so many people who wanted him in Wanna One, didn't support him in NU'EST W either. :/
