i think his point is its just a random guys guess, not anyone of importance saying anything. Then folks jump on random guys guess and spread it.

Could be but if it's say just an article on a site, depends how much attention it gets, maybe it's a small site that got couple of people who saw it, maybe it's a big site and tons of people saw it, knowing that part would be the part that says how much value it's really worth.
