What group do you think did the best musically in 2019? (1 Viewer)

Personally, I have to go with TWICE. Both Korean comebacks were phenomenal, with outstanding albums and a clear consistency in quality. Not to mention, both Fancy and Feel Special were by far some of the best comebacks in the industry in 2019. As for the Japanese comebacks, Breakthrough and Happy Happy and in my opinion, some of the best TWICE songs to date, with Breakthrough not only being a major concept change, but allowed TWICE to bring in audiences different from their expected audience. 2019 for TWICE was, though chaotic, a major peak in their career chart-wise as well.

My favorite TWICE album last year was FANCY YOU, and my favorite song by TWICE was Breakthrough.

I would also say Oh My Girl. Top comebacks and queendom gave them quite the push too.
WJSN did amazing too. All three releases were different and super fun and good.

I'd have to say Oh My Girl as they released one of their best albums with one of their best title tracks and their Queendom single was great

They release one great title track Hip and a decent one Gogobebe.
Their CFs song Gleam was great.
Hwasa and Wheein solo songs, Twit and Goodbye are amazing like Destiny their Queendom song.

And then we have one excellent mini and full album. White wind and Reality in Black are full of masterpieces such as Waggy, My Star, Bad Bye, Universe, Ten Nights, Zzzz, Better and 4x4ever.

Red Velvet and BTS are my honorable mentions.

It's just my opinion, but I didn't really like Feel Special. Idk why. It's probably just me not getting used to it. For most new releases I usually have to give it a few good listens to get into it.

I think Stray Kids did great in 2019. They released 2 extended plays, a reissue, 5 singles, appeared on a soundtrack for Extraordinary You, and went on 2 world tours. Miroh did really well, and so did Side Effects, Levanter, and Double Knot. Mixtape #3 is one of my favorites. I do wish Felix got more lines in Miroh, and not just the intro, and the chorus where everyone sings, but this year was a good year for Stray Kids.

I loved the Clé 2: Yellow Road extended play. My favorite song is Side Effects.

I'll honorably mention BTS (Dionysus is my favorite anlfkgjzn) and Red Velvet. Zimzalabim is a bop and I have it memorized

EXO, but by that I mean EXO overall. We got two Chen minis, a Baekhyun mini, EXO-SC’s mini, the group’s sixth album and a Japanese single. Plus we got more Yixing, and Minseok’s and Ksoo’s Station tracks following their enlistments. But of course some EXO-L complained that we barely got anything

SNSD Taeyeon 2 albums and the tv show where she killed it. Yoona solo album , Tiffany many singles and solo work Hyo dj Jessica song, feels like i am missing someone.......

I feel like Oneus did extremely well for a new group. Three Korean mini albums and Japanese releases on top of that is a whole lot of content for a group that debuted just last year. All albums were top quality and the title tracks were absolutely first win worthy, only if they were more well known! I don't think I've ever liked three albums in a row this much, let alone the FIRST three albums.

Then there's of course Mamamoo, RBW really hit it out of the park last year. Just so much quality stuff.

And, I mean, Seventeen keeps doing better and better every year. One Korean mini album and one full album, Japanese single and a tour, not to mention drama OSTs. They're doing so well all while changing up their concepts and still maintaining the quality.

I agree with a lot here and I'm gonna add in Ateez! Not sure why nobody's said them yet when they dropped 3 wonderful albums, one of which being full, plus a fun bonus album with remixes. Every time they release a new album I also get a new favorite song <3

Gi-dle
I love Gi-dle because they are creatively independent and reinventing the girl crush concept. I Made was one of the best EPs from a girl group and Lion is one of the most unique and captivating major kpop releases I've heard since 2017. Gi-dle is less overtly badass (2NE1) and not really sexy (4Minute, Brown Eyed Girls) instead their music is relatable and down to earth positivity/empowerment.
