People have to understand that JYP is a hype man. A marketer.

He knows "artistry" is in trend now in kpop.

So he's laying the verbal foundation to hype future groups as being founded on artistry.

Whereas prior groups debuted and matured during a time when "artistry" was not the cause du jour in kpop. Dance and visual was at the forefront


In actuality it's unclear if anything foundationally will have changed.

And I don't take it as necessarily a condemnation of existing groups.

I see it as marketing speech to play to the room.

He's framing JYPE's next moves in the context of "artistry". That which is in right now.


We can debate over his propensity to seemingly move on to the next big thing more quickly than fans would like however. He and the company seem to wish to refocus more quickly on new projects than many would like.

I have my own criticisms of how I think the company sees TWICE. I fear they will be left behind in pursuit of new ventures.

He should pick more interesting talented and nice to look at idols. Day6 is his best boy group at the moment imo. Got7 is a hit or a miss for me, and StrayKids music is honestly not good...

This is a bad strategy to get hype as he's openly burying every other group he has by saying that only this time they are focusing on artistry so what would be the point of checking out JYPs other groups?

Every groups needs a selling point but it's better to have different selling points between your active groups so you don't have to do this and pretend like the boy groups you have already didn't focus on artistry so you can get this new boy group across as artists.
