For me it's badly written romance. I don't understand why writers always feel the need to throw in some romance into a story that should honestly have nothing to do with romance. It especially sucks when the story was originally a totally different genre and then eventually devolves into only being romance.​

also, characters who don’t have any motivations, or who lose their goal and kinda just... stick there
adding some unnecessary tragedy for a bittersweet ending
deus ex machina appearing very last minute to quickly wrap things up

this is only for tv shows since i don't play games or read books lately but i hate when one of the main characters gets seriously sick just because the writers don't know what to do with them and want to make things "dramatic" but then they're perfectly fine 4-5 episodes later as if none of that ever happened when in reality people would suffer for years.

dystopian ya is a massive offender of this tbh, I find it odd how literally everyone is basically able to move on from killing civilians/watching family and friends die within a week
