What do you say if someone tells you "Thank you?" (1 Viewer)

Serious question. I've noticed while interacting with some people they don't say anything. Others say "Your welcome," "Sure," "No problem," "Ok," etc.

What do you say, and why?

And if you say nothing, why not? Is it a cultural thing to not say anything? Do you believe it doesn't need a response?

I either say no problem, nothing, or thank you back because my brain lags and just about shuts down sometimes because it's literally such an awkward phrase to have to reply to. Ideally no problem is the best reply for me but for example at work I get a lot of customers thanking me one after another and then it's awkward to keep using the same response so you have to change it up a bit so you don't sound like a robot but wtf else are you supposed to say?? And then I panic and start replying with nonsense. The only thing I don't reply with is 'your welcome' cuz idk it feels really uptight, not that people who say it are uptight, but I feel like i'm being uptight when I say it.

You are welcome, is the most common way to say it. No problem is more informal, a bit lax, maybe something you´d say to a friend when you want to be hip or something :D.
I´m talking about the language though. it just hits a bit different.
I don´t think anyone would say just "ok" .

I serve dinner to old people where I work and whenever I take their plates off the tables they always say thank you but I never really say anything back I just smile back. We don't really have a "you're welcome" in German besides maybe "bitteschön" but saying that over and over again just sounds stupid idk. I do sometimes say "no problem" altho that doesnt really seem appropriate to their ages lmao
