This is a post dedicated to some of the underrated and underappreciated now female soloist from disbanded or inactive 2nd Generation girl groups.

1. MINZY - FORMERLY OF 2NE1

I have to put her first because of the disparity between her support and the fanbase of 2NE1. Minzy is well known to be a triple threat and often cited as the most talented member of 2NE1. Yet she has always been the least liked member from YG, the fandom and non-fans alike, the popularity gap is severe. I think this is very unfair because she is a amazing vocalist, dancer and rapper, I really believe Minji is one of the most multi-talented idols Kpop has seen. Contrary to popular belief, her debut song and EP is great, please listen to it again or give it a try if you haven't. And if your a BlackJack please support Minzy!

2. YEEUN (KNOWN AS HA:TFELT)- FORMERLY OF WONDER GIRLS

I have to mention Yeeun second because her music, messages and music videos are so artistic. Each single album has a overall personal theme that she explores and displays in the music video. Yeeun is amazing and is daring to be herself after being in a idol group for so long. Unlike Minzy she had a well received debut back in 2014 with Ain't Nobody, trust me she is still worth checking out!

3. LUNA - OF F(X)

Unlike 2NE1 and Wonder Girls, F(x) is not technically disbanded but has been inactive for going on four years now. Similar to Minzy, Luna was overshadowed by many of the members of the group and during their long hiatus doesn't have a core fanbase or region of the world to support her. However, Luna is recognized as one of the best vocalist in Kpop and is trying to keep the F(x) name alive in Korea. Please check her out.

4. JIYOON (KNOWN AS JENYER) - FORMERLY OF 4MINUTE

Jiyoon is probably the saddest case out of all the women mentioned. Cube completely made Hyuna dominant the rest of 4Minute and left everyone else in the dust. Jiyoon is the only member besides Hyuna that is pursuing music and predictably she isn't getting the success due her. On the bright side, she has shown sides to her that we never got to see in 4Minute, such as her vocal ability, dance ability, composition and fashion style. Jiyoon is such a versatile artist, check her out!

5. HYOMIN - FORMERLY OF TARA

Tara has some of my favorite songs in Kpop and I most certainly would have stanned them back in their prime. After being lied on by a member and done dirty by their company, they are trying to rebuild. Please support Hyomin, I just started listening to her but her songs are catchy and her music videos creative.

I think not only idol pop but the whole Korean music industry is to small. Only a handful of solo vocalist, indie groups/singers, idol groups and most recently urban acts really make it. Its like the industry simply just can't fit older idols into the structure after their 7 year contract is over.

I would add Hyoseong from Secret. Another in a long list of artists screwed by TS's terrible management, though she got the last laugh winning against them in court last year after suing for unpaid wages and an invalid contract. While she's mainly been working in acting and variety since Secret went on permanent hiatus, she put out a few very good releases which, apart from her solo debut, didn't really get the attention they deserved. Hopefully with her new agency she has some plans for future musical endeavors.
