I'm sure a lot of people find buying k-pop albums digitally as illegimiate, but I am sure that is at least one person on KS that has done it or is considering it; for this I will give some arguments for it...

#1: You don't get huge photobooks with digital collections. While this is true, it is still within one's own ability to find the images held within the photobook online and save them on their computer...

#2: But... in a physical release you get a photocard. Do you get a photocard with digital albums... No you don't. Simple solution. Find an image of the photocard, paste it into paint, turn paint file into a png file. Print the image. Glue it to a piece of glossy cardstock...

#3 Buying physically supports artists more than buying digitally. This is true, but I bought a Woohyun album from a craigslist vender. The vender supported Woohyun when they purchased the album, but when I purchased it, I technically did not financially support Woohyun. Does that illegitimize that mini album within my collection? I don't think so.

#4 But when my k-pop friends come to my house to see my collection and they see a shelf full of cd-r's in plastic cases, they will give me a side-eye... :pandaomg:... Seriously?! ... You have irl friends who like k-pop.. U is lucky :lisalaugh:

Is this post the most idiotic thing you've ever heard? Quite possibly... But I was thinking about the two albums I bought on itunes a couple years ago and I let my mind run away from me... and figured: why shouldn't this count for my daily thread:haylul:

I'm not actually sure if physical album supports artist more, I somewhere saw that the percentage of profits the artist gets from physical albums is smaller :dubuthink: I'm not sure how legit it is though and might change from label to label a lot.

For me i like to collect stuff but when i do it has to be physical collection... so i prefer buying physical albums when i do. Even if shipping is a bitch

I use to buy music on iTunes between 2010 and 2015 but not anymore as the music I like isn't available there
I'd try Amazon since they seem to have quite a few k-pop collections. I'd agree though that they probably won't have some older stuff, such as Shinhwa, S.E.S. or Fly to the Sky...

I mean I only like underrated Japanese artists that are often even not on Japanese iTunes store

Well, what I read is that buying from Melon supports artists at similar rates, but international sellers like iTunes, Amazon, and others aren't as profitable.

So true.. I remember one time I was purchasing from KTown4u and my cart was like $80 and I was like cool... This is not a problem.. But then the lowest shipping cost was like $120... lol. Then there's YesAsia that gives you free shipping, but stiffs you with the prices.. So its either pay cheaper for the albums and high for shipping or high for albums and low for shipping... But I did purchase from YesAsia once and they made a shipping error and the package arrived in 3 days instead of 14 even though I didn't pay for FedEx 3 day.. such a happy accident. lol

Yep it's rly a hassle. Even more now when I have to pay import tax when i buy outside of EU. I have done some excel spreadsheets to figure out what album price + shipping + import tax combo is cheapest :haylul: I figured out YesAsia is cheapest if you get free shipping. You have just to buy a lot and pay the import tax and hope it doesn't get stuck in a customs too long...

In an Amazon Prime world where shipping is same day it becomes tedious. lol

they aren't. I mean my favourite alternative idols for example
Hmm.. I really thought they weren't that popular anymore... Is that one idol with strawberry blondish hair that lost her hearing for a while still popular?
